My Mazda wasn't immobilized at all and so it had a cheap and easy secret switch for turning off the fuel at night.
With the Monza, I’m not quite sure if the immobilizer works or not yet but as a second and visual deterrent, what kit would people recommend?

Detachable steering wheel, can't get any more obvious than that I reckon. or perhaps one of those Disklock wheel covers.  |

My new (1984) car doesn't have any security as far as I can tell, so I bought a Disklok on the way home from buying it.
I'll fit an ebay alarm system once I've worked down the problem list a bit!

they're big for that reason though..harder for the average casual thief to remove in a hurry , alot of the smaller ones can come off easy

Diskloks are big, heavy and annoying but if you look at any report/review, they're the only ones worth having.
With the recent spate of key cloning thefts of new BMWs in London, the only thing that stops the thieves is a Disklok.

Depends on how is going to steal the car, if you want to deter your average neighbour hood chav wanting joy ride a simple kill switch on the ignition feed will prevent the car starting and any visible deterrent, krooklock or flashing LED will make them go for an easier target.
However if someone really wants you car no amount of security will keep it in your driveway.

I've got a disclok, very heavy duty. No better deterrent IMO.

Its certainly a visual detterant to the TWOCER scrote , probably the most obvious person to try to actually nick your car .

Anything older and not a mini/ vw/ mgb/ escort/ land rover will probably get stolen as an easy way to get home from the pub or into town for a night out.
A disclock is bloody obvious when its fitted and likely to deter anyone without a great deal of time. Better they see it and move on rather than them put the window through, then find out after smashing off the ignition that its not going to start as its got a fuel cut off fitted - at that point they're likely to be curse word off and torch it from spite or roll it down the nearest hill.....
