I consigned this to breaking/scrap halfway through the year due to rust on sills and rears of arches.
Since I have sold half of my cars, I only have two that are projects, so it seems fair to keep hold of it as I really love it. I've done 50,000 miles in it since 2012, been to France, etc. Apart from an alternator bearing, nothing has gone wrong.
Purchased on this very site for £250 with MOT but no tax:
Had a bit of rust. Passed it's MOT in 2012 with only a small amount of bodywork and replacement of bushes and balljoints.
Drove it for another year, through the winter of 2012/13 which dissolved the sills and rear arches. Sat in a number of garages, advertised for sale here for £350, and then up to now:
These can rust, but not as bad as any other car of the era. Mine is pretty bad on the sills (inner and outer) and I pulled a repair section on the driver's sill in front of the wheel with my hand.
Floor is solid, but sills, arches and inner arches need work. It's not that bad, it failed it's MOT on some of the corrosion, but not all of it.
Rear calipers need doing as the rubbish handbrake mech on these calipers have seized. Bought a second hand caliper, which fell off the shelf and smashed the windscreen. There's irony for you.
Have so far stripped the old calipers, bought a new seal kit from Bigg Red and new handbrake cables.
The Superwhite paint is rough now, so I'm going to rub it all back, and use some Rustoleum Grey with rollers to do the whole thing.
A bit lighter than this:
Wish me luck!
