THIS is why people should contribute to these nomination threads x 1,000,000 That MR2 thread is GOLD I've not seen it before and I frequently go brousing in readers rides looking at every thread regardless of if I think it will be of interest and I've never found that one thanks Georgeb.

Only joined the site in June just after I got my e30. within a week retrorides was number 1 in my most visited sites, knocking sky sports off the top spot. Retro car Of The Year 2014 - As I attended more and more shows this decision got harder and harder but for me it has to be Mystery Machine ' Merc..looked amazing at the Gathering and the hero car in a wedding story... Community/Forum person of the year 2014 - mwggriffiths - fantastic road trip and photos New Thread Of The Year 2014 - retrorides.proboards.com/thread/172830/bmw-fast-track-build - build your fantasy BMW.. why not!! You are welcome. You probably missed it before because that sweetpea is a lazy so-and-so who keeps blaming bathrooms, philosophical pets and all sorts of other irrelevancies for slow progress

First off, this is the first year in the whole time that any of my mechanical bodgery has recieved a nomination, which I have to say thanks for. That sort of recognition is a massive mojo boost, and has pushed me to get my rear in gear and hit the Skunkworks tonight to push things forward. OK, so there may be some repetition of my nominations from last year, and to clarify there are some already mentioned that I would have nominated which makes me happy to pull some potential unknowns into the picture... so here goes: Retro car Of The Year 2014 - This: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/168760/lotus-esprit-s3-air-powerIt ticks every box for me, its just done so right, and absolutley the way I would have done. I have "the envy" espritv8Community/Forum person of the year 2014 - paul Barret for his exemplary skills and knowledge transfer exhibited during this build: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/161401/opel-manta-series-v8-1uzfe?page=18New Thread Of The Year 2014 - This has kept my mojo going, which this year has been needed: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/173473/car-stuff-doing-weekend-threadSimple idea but well worth it! Best Media Of The Year 2014 - I second Project Binky, the humour and talent are second only to Roadkill... Bad Obsession motorsports, take a bow: www.youtube.com/channel/UCHvBHWBzzB7NyU5tIiEZHBgReaders Other Mods 2014 - Ashamed to say that despite creating a garage thread for my own Skunkworks, I have neglected to sample the other delights of this section. Can i re-edit this if something springs to mind? TBC Show/Event of the year 2014 - Sadly I never got to attend any, so it would be unfair to pass comment. Most Anticipated Car 2015 - Got to be claymore and his mental twin engined Volvo 850, mainly as I can actually see this hitting the road in 2015, much to the horror of the rest of the Volvo brigade. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/71239/1996-volvo-kompressor-engined-project?page=28Happy Snapper - EmDee, relentless content. Great Contributor - bstardchildTechnical Help - I rarely ask it if I'm being honest, but from what I see on other threads - DezCommunity Spirit - TBC Community Organiser - TBC Ebay Bloodhound - xbo11ox for his content here: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/37171/xbolx-blog-rover-update-hyundai?page=66I think he just does it for the chance to ramble about chod. And I'm fine with that. Mods, how are the nominations being collated? Am I able to edit my TBC's in the list above before a closing date?

Ah, now to be fair I've painted the cam covers too. Seriously flattered about the nomination and your comments. Thank you. I'll have to think of some of my own. James

I think the RR community is so vast now, that I find it really difficult to remember all the cool cars / people / things I've seen throughout the year in order to nominate them.
Would it help generate more input into the nominations if we had the ability to put them forward throughout the year? I don't quite know how it would work, but being able to see something amazing and then put suggest a nomination would mean that we might get more varied nominations from more forum members.
For me, the annual racking of brains trying to recall the best bits of the past 12 months leaves me a bit daunted and often I end up not getting around to nominating, which is a poor show on my part I admit.
Maybe my idea would mean there would be too many nominations. And I don't know what would happen if someone used their nomination in March and then something even better happened in September... I'm just thinking aloud here...
Anyway, I'll fill in my nominations here as and when I can...

^^ I voted for yours - Nothing to do with the amount of work. It was the idea of doing it in the 1st place I found inspirational. The fact you pulled it off is worthy of my vote.

T'other day I'd done a nice long post with plenty of links but I stupidly closed the tab and lost it. I'd even gone through my bookmarks to see all the threads that had been updated in 2014! Anyhoo, here's my lame effort to recall: Retro car Of The Year 2014 - totti 's Cortina for me! Hope to see it in the flesh sometime soon Community/Forum person of the year 2014 - New Thread Of The Year 2014 - Best Media Of The Year 2014 - XCAR Readers Other Mods 2014 - TBD Show/Event of the year 2014 - only went to the Gathering :/ Most Anticipated Car 2015 - I'd say camerashy 's 280Z, Mark 's MIB, grenade 's Maser/Lexus, and plenty of others I can't remember Happy Snapper - Great Contributor - buzbyTechnical Help - goldnrust Community Spirit - Community Organiser - Ebay Bloodhound -

Apologies for the lateness (and lack of link but I'm on my mobile at the mo and wanted to get this in before nominations close), I'd like to nominate Hanger18's H Van for my car of the year please.

I'm on Canadian time (cough, cough), so excuse the lateness..... Retro car Of The Year 2014 - charliecroker and his Lotus Elite, he's only gone and realised the leigh / Mystery Machine joint vision! Community/Forum person of the year 2014 - goldnrust Personally I think anyone who likes rotaries has screws loose. That he went and made a more mental one, dressed up as an MX5. Hats off. New Thread Of The Year 2014 - filly and his Pembleton it's left field, has three wheels and I like it. Best Media Of The Year 2014 - I may have this wrong, but THIS video, 'Beast of Turin' Fiat land speed car, literally made me shudder involuntarily...building a 'pre war' car wouldn't be totally insane...I mean...it's totally justifiable... Readers Other Mods 2014 - Frankenhealey and the god damn turbine. I know it's a build thread for a car, but it's so out there it should be in other mods. Most Anticipated Car 2015 - Bozwell and his Honda S800 you see...I know he likely won't finish this in 2015, but he started his build not long after mine and is equally as excitable about old rusty japanese washing machine steel, and he's doing it nut and bolt...with attitude. I like that. I mean, I want to say mine, as I can almost taste the finish, but I need to finish the damn thing and not jinx myself. Happy Snapper - Mystery Machine and the photos he keeps leaving me in my PM inbox of his photography travels! Community Spirit - Clement BIG TIME. Who goes and buys an old maserati...goes through endless bureacracy to get it in his name, and has a ridiculous smile on his face the whole time...this guy.
