Are they still making them somewhere?
Seen the same blue one twice now in Tesco Aldershot.
It's LHD but not sure whether it has lots of modern new things like power steering and air bags etc but it looks identical to the classic model. Has remote locking too!
Is it possible to have a 2013 'Retro'??

They still make them, there's a dealer not more than 10 mins from my house selling them. I'm not sure how many he's selling at £12000 each. Next time I travel to Latvia I my bring one back.

As I am not a fan of modern cars with all the technology I would go and take a look at one, had the lada riva that's in the for sale section at the moment and know what to expect, no frills cheap parts no nonsense car, would invest in some high tech rust protection, drive and enjoy it for what it is.

I have to say, it looked great fun. Guy driving it looked happy.
Could it possibly be the perfect daily? Modern ignition and a couple of creature comforts on what is a great Retro looking 4x4?

Get some painted up in lairy-lurid 1970's colours and I think you'd have something wholly superb to buzz about in... Why not eh...?!

Interesting. You can get a Dacia Duster for £9500. The steering wheel is on the right side and it probably is more refined with more creature comforts.
Doesn't have the cool retro looks though!
The Lada needs to be a bit cheaper and be available in khaki with a big red star on the bonnet!

There's a Niva dealer near me too.
Most Dusters are 2-wheel drive though.
(And Richardtk : I'm originally from Lutterworth!)

all the tightarse old farmers who used to buy a series land rover or a subaru brat/forester then run them for 25 years straight with zero maintenance, apparently this is what they're now buying. you can see why i guess.

I stopped by the dealer today on my way back from the recycling centre. It was really nice to look at a car that was obviously new but that was old at the same time. They are quite small as well, but I'm quite liking the idea of one.

strange really, as the defenders demise has come about because of emissions, pedestrain safety etc etc yet the Niva still gets in there, its just as slab fronted!
Id pay the extra 3k and buy a niva over a duster, the niva will be less complicated and more reliable....probably.

Especially as mercedes have said they will make the G wagen till 2025. To me they are mostly boxy heavy lumps, but then we have to engineer cars around people who walk out in front of them. I can't afford a new Niva but I think I will get an older one.
