For now I just want I on the road, though. Sooner its registered, the sooner I can get my 4wd sorted. /threadjack over Yeah was looking at those. And they do fit. But then I would also rather go Sr20det or 3sgte. whoanow... did I read 4wd? Tell me more! Thats a Cool little truck you have there, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress! thanks! Will upDate as soon as Ive got time.

The Minor has a very short engine bay, made shorter by the steering rack box that is attached to the firewall. Although, on mine this isn't as much of an issue as it's no longer being used so I could cut it out. CA motors juuuuust fit, according to our measurements, an SR will be way too long without some major modifications. The 4wd is my next planned project for one of the other shells I have. Turns out 2 door Suzuki Vitara's are only 12mm out on the wheelbase, albeit rather a lot wider.

But the internet tells me a KP37 should only be about 40mm shorter wheelbase than a vitara, so a bit of lift and it'd be fine.

Well, that looks a lot worse than it originally did! Still, sooner you chop it out, the sooner you can stick new stuff back in! Not that I can talk really...

Good to see a "local" on RR! I will watch this with interest as I am trying to gain motivation to start on the 404! When on this side of the mountain again, you are invited to have a cuppo or a beer with me.
Before someone asks why a vehicle in this condition is not simply scrapped... In South Africa, for various reasons, even old vehicles are expensive (sometimes - for what you get) and with relative replacement cost rising, are thus kept on the road for far, far longer than in developed countries. So far a CoR/MOT/TÃœV is only required when a vehicles changes ownership. For the same reasons "donor" vehicles are not the cheap solution and seldom an option due to very high mileage and general neglect. South Africa, in fact, import second hand engines to keep local wrecks on the road for longer. Or Lexus V8's for a bit more oomph!

Haha awesome pm me your deets and ill let you know when I'm that side again. Oooh. A peagout 404? Nice! And I fully agree with the statement about SA's vehicles. Thus saving this little wreck of mine is the cheapest option. and seeing as I got it for a steal I can't complain. Some more progress. Fibreglassed the palces where needed and started with the drivers side floor... even worse

All patched up! Just to wait for the fibreglass to dry. Then another coat of paint. Then I can put the carpet back. And the drivers side 0.o Hopefully I can sort that out by tomorrow. Then on to that door!

So.. Did a bit more work. And two more... So got all the sound deadining off to uncover all the rust! Holy curse word there's alot... But, will be be sorting out that tomorrow. Need to derust everywhere. Then adding a couple of new plates, some more ns4 and some fibreglass to seal it nicely. Man... didn't think it was this bad. But. As soon as I'm done at least it will be good for another year or 5!

So did a bit more tonight. Grinded down some rust and then painted rust converter. Was cold and wet outside... so couldn't do much more. So... here is a bit of a problem. For now I'm going to just vacuum up all the bits and spray rust converter. But will need to cut it out at some point... And last pic for tonight tomorrow I will be painting the last coat of ns4. Then on to the metal to cover all the holes. So almost there with the floor. Hopefully I can tackle the door this weekend.

Oh! And for those who think I'm doing a patch jOb. you are correct. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to invest in a mig welder currently. So until such time this will need to do. But when I do get my mig I'm going full bore and replacing all the rusted panels with new sheet metal.

And until then, what you're doing will save it and then it'll be ready when you are! Keep at it!

Block is taller and wider. So it needs more space height wise, sump is different (and also oil pickup) and it needs the smaller, modern startermotor which comes with the 7K as well. It'a also not the strongest in the series. I'd say 4K or 5K is the best choice /threadjack2 Great to see a KP37, never seen one IRL overhere in the Netherlands. Plenty of KP30s, a couple of Stationwagons, but no Pickups. Will follow with interest, hope you can fix it good in the future when funds/skills allow!

I think a 7K will be a lot easier to find over here, though. 4K's are almost as popular as 4AGE's for some reason. I have a reasonable amount of room, and if it's not longer than the others, I wouldn't have any major issues, I don't think. Plenty of width and height in a Minor bay! Back on topic. Good to hear that you plan on sorting it properly, I was getting a bit worried with the amount of glass going in. I suppose it's a lot drier over there, too. So less likely to rot out much further?
