And until then, what you're doing will save it and then it'll be ready when you are! Keep at it! thanks! Heh, same interests and viewing times, I guess. Yes, I am aware of the 7k, although not sire how much bigger it is. I am yet to do any real research on it. To be honest, if I go to the effort of dropping a different motor in this, I'll probably go down either the 4AGE/ZE route or try my hand at the CA18/20 plan I originally had. For now I just want I on the road, though. Sooner its registered, the sooner I can get my 4wd sorted. /threadjack over and to continue the threadjack, i didn't read this topic for a week, i missed it apparantly! 7K is the only block out of the whole K-series line which isn't a straight swap into something k-engined allready. Block is taller and wider. So it needs more space height wise, sump is different (and also oil pickup) and it needs the smaller, modern startermotor which comes with the 7K as well. It'a also not the strongest in the series. I'd say 4K or 5K is the best choice /threadjack2 Great to see a KP37, never seen one IRL overhere in the Netherlands. Plenty of KP30s, a couple of Stationwagons, but no Pickups. Will follow with interest, hope you can fix it good in the future when funds/skills allow! Mmm still want to get a 4k motor somehow.. I think a 7K will be a lot easier to find over here, though. 4K's are almost as popular as 4AGE's for some reason. I have a reasonable amount of room, and if it's not longer than the others, I wouldn't have any major issues, I don't think. Plenty of width and height in a Minor bay! Back on topic. Good to hear that you plan on sorting it properly, I was getting a bit worried with the amount of glass going in. I suppose it's a lot drier over there, too. So less likely to rot out much further? Well the 4age is a beast motor. But would rather do period mods. And yeah fibre is only a temp solution. But its relatively wet here too... thus all the rust. But at least I stopped it a bit.

No updates here yet unfortunately. Waiting for they weather to clear up. And waiting for some cash to come in for the mig welder.
Also need to buy some new wire wheels to tackle the rest of the rust. Hopefully I can complete some work this weekend.

So I haven't updated this in a while... Still have Sir Rust-a-lot... and well... he's still rusty I sold my daily and also selling my VW Type3 so with the extra cash I'm going to do a complete stripdown and rebuild. My only issue is garage space. So currently I'm redoing my garage so that I can park the Toyota in the garage and start the strip down. At the same time I'm busy with my Nissan S13's engine swap. So things are a bit busy this side. I did buy myself a mig welder, so that's a plus point! At least I can now start welding and replacing panels on the Toyota! I will keep this thread updated as I start the tear down.

Drove it again at least today. Still such a fun thing to drive... Hopefully starting the strip down in the next two weeks, as I'm off work for a while!

Keep going, it will be well worth it. On a completely separate note my wife worked in Hermanus in the late 80's at salon annique (probably long gone but was a beauty therapist place) one of the nicest places I have been, always had a good time there. Please continue. P.

Thanks Pauly! Erm I actually think it's still in town if I'm not mistaken. And yes. Very nice place to live. But not to work... Money not the best. Haha. Also as you can see with this project the ocean air does not like metal... Or actually really likes metal.
