As some of you know i drive skip wagons for a living, sometimes i get lucky and grab stuff before the skips get sorted. linkBelieve it or not, this gazebo was in a skip! All complete with sides, one of the metal frame parts had broken,so i did a very temp bodge, then another frame turned up in the yard, so i took off what i needed and fixed this one. linkElectric lawn rake, nothing wrong with at all, checked over all the wiring ect, works a treat, even all the tines are there! linklinkThese clamps, just a bit of lube, all is well! linkStilson type wrench. Was seized up solid with cement type stuff, a couple of hours with a wire brush later! link Cordless circ saw .... Battery was fubar'd but one from my old cordless drill fitted, so good luck there!

linkIts 110v .... Good job i also 'rescued' a transformer ..... linkAnd it works! linkThese pipes ... About 90mm diameter and 5mm wall thickness ....... I have absolutely no idea what i'm going to use them for,but they were to good to for the scrap bin! linklinkThis was rusted solid, and rivetted together,so i cut the rivets off wire brushed it clean, greased it up and reassembled with bolts ..... Again no idea what i'll use it for,but there will be a use for it one day ............

linkOne of my bigger subjects .... This never made it to the skip, one of our regular customers,a small local builder type, had this in the front garden of a house he was renovating, a conversation took place with me being told if i want it,i could take it, but asap .... So bought wifey with me that evening to see if it would pass muster,so to speak. Gof rid of the drawers in the middle, and she got me to make a wine rack ( did i mention i hate working with wood?) she rubbed it all down and painted it up. Will get a better pic of it all finished now she has filled it with crockery.

It would be a dopey customer who wasn't nice to the skip driver....some good finds there though, I can't beleive someone through out those clamps! Theres at least a couple of hundred pounds worth and you can never have too many clamps! Haven't noticed so many people skip diving since the price of scrap went down though.

If you saw what people chucked away ...... In the last 2 weeks alone the lads in the yard have gotten out of skips .. A fully working petrol whacker plate. A petrol powered hydraulic breaker, working, Mini moto bike, it worked after a bit of fettling. Stihl saw.they got it working after a while Chainsaw as above Then theres cash, jewellery mobile phones etc etc .....

Years ago a friend rescued a complete patio set, brand new, still packaged, seems it was skipped as the chaps wife didn't like the colour. A friend runs a charity, recycling bicycles, I am still stunned by what gets skipped by some people, unused bikes are a regular sight Ttfn Glenn

There's a very good reason I stay out of the skip yard when we take stuff in, coming back with the van full of different rubbish would not make for a happy site....

Mate was a hook loader skip wagon driver. He took me to a landfill site where supermarkets dump food. We loaded up loads of in date dog and cat food that had been dumped. Another time I borrowed a large van and filled it to the brim with, again in date, Tesco pop. They has simply changed the design of the logo so all the old design had been taken in artic to a plastic recycling yard where they were driving machinery over the pallets to burst bottles. Yard said I could have as many pallets of pop as I wanted on condition it wasn't sold. I gave it away to friends, neighbours.

Love your big dresser/wall unit with added wine rack. Do you have the same problem as me where you struggle to fill the wine rack and keep it full? Been thinking about that big pulley block too. I've just came back from the park with the kids where they have a cool zip line with a very similar set up. Do you have kids you could build one for (obviously just as an excuse as you'd be using it yourself). If I had a bigger garden I'd love to run one from my shed down to the back door so when I'm finished for the night I can just hop on and zip home

I gets lots of mundane stuff, usually nothing worth mentioning, let alone photographing for an online forum..... For example the kids got a couple of baby rabbits a couple of yrs ago, supposed to be both females ........ Well they were not,so had to be separated .... Have you seen the prices for decent sized animal runs!!?? We have separate hutches from when we had guinea pigs, but not two rabbit sized runs ..... So cue keeping my eye out for anything 'rabbit appropriate' in the yard ..... link linkGetting big stuff home though is an issue ......

You'd need a bigger pulley than that!! And thick cable!
