I've been trying to find someone who sells trabants in the UK but no one seems to do them,and the club website is next to useless.I went to Berlin last year and saw tons of them,and was tempted to go back and get one but i've heard that the DVLA make it very hard for you to register one.Does anyone know of a place.I tried ebay but its currently got none on there.

Don't think they command much of a premium over standard ones. Problem is, without widespread acceptance, they don't often make price listings so it's tricky to give a price.

From what I've read on here, I don't think there's much the DVLA can do to stop you registering a European sourced car.
I'd say that £1500 would be a top end price for a top-notch Trabbi. Unless you account for U2-tax, or sell it to a museum.

I know of a dealer with one, he baught it off the foreign students the day before I was going to ask if it was for sale  I know he payed sod all for it but I don't know what he's gonna sticker it up for. Its currently 'awaiting preperation'  Bit far for you I suppose but if it gets a bargain price tag (whatever that is?) i'll start shouting about it on here  |

Well Ive just been to have a look at the '68 saloon in my garage and I'd say £10, maybe £11 for the estate. Rumours say the guy with the stash in Derbyshire was giving them away in the end. Having looked at a fair few recently, low mileage, high mileage, newer, older you have to buy on condition. They can look pristine but the basic tub can still be rusted to death, even the later ones. Caveat emptor as always. |
