I'm considering fitting an ignition only ecu to my Daimler 2.5 V8. I built a Megajolt once, but never got around to making it work before the car was destroid by fire. Now there are more options like Nodiz, DTA, Omex etc. I guess I also could use a full injection ecu but only use the spark part (?). Which one should I choose ? Pricepoint is a consideration.

On my wartburg is used I ignitech.cz/en/Needs special consideration for triggers. I had the sparker4 kit. Only one fluent English speaking operative on email so don't immediate response. Also their primary market is race bikes so they don't really know much about car installations so your a bit on your own knowledge. Needs a serial port for mapping. Totally bomb proof and the size of a fag packet. You can download the software for free to see if its options are apropriate. About 250 euro including a trigger wheel (not 36/1). Support 2d and 3d maps.

nodiz is terrible, should have gone megajolt What a well founded statement . I suggest you give little more info if you're going to state something like this. Or was it a poor attempt at irony?

Megajolt is good but edits units and plugs are getting harder to find.
Nodiz should be a good solution.

Nice response I was told, "Just go to Halfords and buy a kit" to get something I wanted but couldn't find. It was then pointed out by someone else that there may not be a Halfords in Manila!

The bluetooth connectivity is a great idea but poor in practice. The ones I have tuned for customers always drop connection. Doesnt seem to be any functionality to create a file offline which is a poor idea at best, couple this with the fact bluetooth connectivity constantly drops and it takes a while to get a decent base file.
The speed of change when tuning is just awful.
The worst part about the whole thing is that it seems SO SLOW that actual timing does not meet what is requested at higher revs in the map and yes the trigger is correctly synced and verified.
I have seen this across mutiple cars and now refuse to tune nodiz. The same car with megajolt fitted would pull 10hp higher on the dyno.

Since no one has commented on these issues before I didn't know when ordering. What company do you run/work for?

Aha, good point I'd overlooked. Could probably run it as a two stroke four cylinder with four coils and wasted spark. Not ideal and I think you may be better off with the option you've chosen.
