That would be awesome.
I believe one of those converted power wagons featured on Jay Leno's YouTube channel earlier. I'm not sure I'd splash 250.000 on one but they look great for sure.
Hope you'll pull this one off.

Me too! That last video was too long, as most of mine are, so I made it twenty seconds long, using the only parts that matter:

Would be nice if one could find you a body for sensible money.

It goes quick with the right mower. It's so cold right now that we don't have to worry about cutting grass for another 5 months. There are bodies out there but I want to buy them way below market value because I'm cheap.

I have been on the lookout for a body to plop down over my 4x4 Chassis. I have been combing the internet and have run across a few interesting things.
There's plenty out there, but I want to pay 300 bucks for something that is worth 3,000. That's what's stopping me. Well, that and the fact that I can't fit a truck body and the chassis inside my garage. It's now a frozen icebox here and I'm not trying to work on something if it doesn't fit in the garage. The Chassis is under a tarp in the back yard and that's likely where it will stay until spring.
There's also the point of these old Yank tanks are heavy. I need a lift. I didn't really think that one through. How the hell did I think I was going to get a complete body off the ground high enough to roll this chassis underneath?
With enough jacks and blocks of wood on a few nice days, I'm sure I could get the job done outside in the driveway but as I said, it looks like Alaska out there and it's bitterly cold. I could enlist the help of four or six people to lift it on and off, but that would be difficult at best because my friends are lazy and certainly don't want to lift anything more than once unless it's in a beer bottle. They're not interested in working on any vehicle, never mind coming over and standing here while I measure and cut steel mounting points.
I've considered selling the running chassis in favor of something smaller to fit inside the garage. Working by yourself isn't bad if you have a two post lift and a big building to use. I guess I really didn't think I'd be ready for a body this quickly. I thought I'd be playing with that engine block for months. Anybody wanna buy a Hemi 4x4 chassis? lol

If you look on grizz 's truck thread, they made a body lift using an engine crane, that might suffice? On my phone so can't link to it sorry.

Thank you varelse I am not sure this will work for grenade but, always worth considering. I built the wooden jib that fits on the front of an engine hoist. Once in place........... Even a girl can lift it one handed, take a look below. And with a bit more explaining.... Martin lifting his cab. I am not sure if I had, or put any measurements into the one I made on my thread but all you need is a pivoting point to attach to the hoist, and then make sure it fits nicely into the door frame for width. I would recommend wood or some non slip surface where it makes contact with the cab so that it does not have metal on metal slipping. Hope that helps and that you can use that on your chassis. Remember you could remove the rear wheels to drop the chassis lower, then slide the cab in from the rear if your garage if you cannot get it over from the side.

If you can't separate the cab and bed ( but I imagine you can), maybe a second crane could be enlisted from a friendly local to increase your bench pressing high score? If you're concerned about height you could prolly jib it via the floor for the extra clearance. Bit of 2x4 bolted above and below the floor to lift from might be a bit more friendly to the roof, too.

I'm going to give it a try, but it's not going to fit inside the garage. Well, I'll have a closer look when I actually buy something to stick on top. Working outside is over for a few months. Today is blowing snow and cold cold.

Since the weather sucks and the garage is empty, I decided to Not act my age and found something else to do.

If it helps, here are a couple of copied and pasted pics. After the DIY shop, I came home with 12 meters of 6X2 inch lumber, and Martin went home to disconnect everything on the truck and remove his windscreen etc. The design is a direct copy of a picture of one built by Pimpston65 in Corktown Misouri. I came home to build a single handed cab lifter attachment to fit to the end of a 3 ton engine hoist which will be used tomorrow, and later possibly on my cab as well, If I do fool myself into removing my cab. This actually fits just outside the door rubber ridges, stopping the cab from slipping off when you lift it. This is the upside down view, imagine the diagonal timber is the boom of the engine hoist.

Yep, I now have a total picture of how to make one of those and I will indeed use it. Thanks!

It's crazy weather. Usually it's covered in three feet of snow. It's above freezing and totally workable today. The engine turns freely but the starter motor does not. I'm taking the body off of it now.
