A long warbling diatribe justifying having a go about another lad's welding, ending with a through-gritted-teeth non-apology Ok we get it Mr Outraged of Tunbridge Wells However, I've been told by the chap who did the work that I'm mistaken, and I've accepted that and am really fairly happy to move on and let him enjoy his van. Cant fault the sincerity thats just oozing out of that. I don't profess to do it for a living (I can earn more doing other things), Oooooohhhh Mrs!!! Miaow!!!!!

My god, in the time it took you guys to do all that work and get that van finished and looking so good, I have only even thought about my project!
Hats off to you for the amount of work in the timeframe. I do think you need the V6 in it so can justify the roof rack ;-)

I disagree regarding the statement you made about the pillar as well where is my statement about the pillar ? i specifically quoted about non factory joins, i.e mid panel p.s as pointed out its not a monocoque vehicle, since it has a ladder chassis under the van (admittedly integrated at the cab end) none of my comments were specifically aimed at you, other than the fact you seem to have engineered consent for follow up "yeah what he said" type replies (surprisingly, a few from RR old guard)

Looks awesome, I have no idea how you did it in the time period Especially when you had to do annoying things like strip all the bog back off you applied like this to seam the panel in you tacked My hat is truly doffed

Can i ask why you hadn't tack welded the inside of the old side window cut outs? That would have 'held' the steel sheet in place better as the sheet will surely 'drum' in the centre. Won't that in turn cause the sheet to flex?

mate go pull yourself about a bit more! you got nothing better to do? Replies like these are far less constructive and a load more counter intuitive than any of my questions! Works both ways, those of us who've asked about the welds, haven't gone calling everyone who says it looks great, we've just asked constructive questions and stated why we (personally) thought it appeared to be done wrong. I think some folks need to be a little more reflective of their input. Yeh ok mate, you and a few others are ok to slate and hate on someones hard work from no facts and only seeing a few pics? This is a forum for enthusiasts, if you have nothing positive or constructive to say, don't say it. Simple!

You lot crack me up I see people sitting tyres that clearly weren't designed to fit rims that are to wide on cars they don't fit Everyone says "way cool man" but no one is allowed to say a thing against them Someone does some welding that you don't like and no one gives a f#+k this blokes van has been pulled apart by armchair Enthusiasts Why haven't the mods stopped all the bitching It's his van to fix how he wants

I've been AWOL for a few weeks but last time I checked this thread things were going great - still are by the looks of it. I'm amazed by the re-birth. Looks good to me. My Dad tooled around in one of these in the 80s with a fibreglass high-top and he was always having to help out driving the local Scouts/pensioners etc around
Where did that sudden flurry of handbags come from? Haha. Can't be safe for one's health all that worrying?

Why haven't the mods stopped all the bitching Possibly because the mods don't read every thread and no one has reported it Bit of a disappointing thread for me all round

just caught up with the thread and have to say that van is all kinds of awesomeness! there aren't enough mk1 or 2 transits left imho
as for the haters thing I'm seeing far more leaning to the defence of gasretro -he owns it and is building it how he wants to because its his baby just sayin'.
personally I have ran out of popcorn so I'm gonna stop spectating for a bit and shift my backside out of the chair and go make some more.
keep up the build and give it to me as a lovely gift when youre done (its my birthday soon lol) and ignore the muppets!

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Why haven't the mods stopped all the bitching It's his van to fix how he wants Because it only just got reported, I've not read through the thread before. Seems like it was resolved, but people want to keep it going, because they can't let it go, one way or another. It would be a lot of trouble to selectively delete part of posts in this thread. Please try and play nice with each other. Thanks.
