The rear springs are Astra Mk3 Estate springs, the front are Astra Mk3 big-block springs.
The aim is to use off-the-shelf parts wherever possible, to keep costs down. I have a preference to sticking with Vauxhall parts, as the insurers seem to prefer it!

Same here with stock opel suspensions. Never did get around to sorting stiffer rear shocks tho.

Just had a very quick look at part of your Corsa thread, will come back and read it tonight!
Do you do any official racing/rallying, or mooch around the unsurfaced lanes like myself?

wasting time on on muddy patches thats me, but there is no official green lanes in Ireland so finding a spot is tough.
unfortunately probably going to have to get rid this weekend, a fiesta daily, landrover, a new baby, and a small drive means i have no space for my next project, an EV.

No-one is daft enough to have more than one wife these days, surely!
Have you suggested a trailer for the sprog?

Failed the MoT the other day, handbrake not working on one side and a snapped anti-roll bar linkage.
Fiddled with the brakes and fitted a new ARB linkage, and it passed today!

Need to see more of this sort of thing. A nice change from the usual mania for lowering cars whether it is practical for everyday use or not. Did you have any issues with clearance when fitting larger wheels to gain height? I'd like a bit more height to my EN Civic. Do you have any useful advice? I have fitted 6.00x12 farm service lug tyres on the factory 12" steel rims on the front and 155/13 road radials on steelies from a newer model on the back which means the rolling diameter of both pairs of wheels is about the same. As with your car the factory standard speedo error has now cured itself. The farm tyres make a horrendous noise on chipseal and I imagine that they would get quite scary at speed. It's totally dodgy and will never have a wof/mot again so no issues with legality as long as it's safe.

I was concerned at first about what tyres I could use. There are a lot of autograss ones on the market, but I assumed they would not be road legal. Thankfully I was wrong, and many of them are!
To use 4x4 terms, the ones I use are AT (all terrain), so are a bit louder than road tyres, but certainly liveable. They are rated past UK speed limits, so I use them on the motorway as well. Grip is much better than I thought, but can be slippy on wet tarmac. This is not a car for speed though!
As far as sizes go, I am restricted on the front. If I go too big then the tyre will foul on the lower spring seat of the MacPherson strut. I'm currently working on ways around this.
The rears weren't a problem, but then I lifted that quite quickly. I don't know if my tyres would fit on the rear of a standard Astra.
I don't know how big I can go without causing too much strain on the gear box, as not many people have done this before!

I got asked about the snorkel noise ages go (on a different site), but finally managed to do a little video.
I didn't pick the best areas, as there was a lot of background noise, and I couldn't really open up the throttle, but it gives an idea...
