Hi, been a long time admirer of the vehicles on the site, love looking at all the amazing rides that are on here, and reading the threads recently bought a new work truck, would just like to ask if it would be accepted on here or not? I can't imagine it would be on the correct forums for the vehicle as its not a 30k dayvan. Basically its a 53 plate t5 single cab dropside pick up, rear has been wood clad it's on coilovers all the way down, banded steels on there way to me at the minute got some rusty bits and has to be locked with a key not a button I know it's not a exact fit for this site but seen a couple of cars that have slipped in as they captured the spirit Just looking for a new place to have a chat, ask opinions and have a laugh
No worries if it rubs the grain the wrong way fully understood, just finding t5 sites don't exactly fit the van as it doesn't have a ccm to plug drl's or highline bits into!
thanks for your time and opinions welcome cheers James

I'm sure Hotwire or someone will be along to post about defining "retro" I have seen a number of cars crop up lately that are slightly under the age requirement, but due to exceptional circumstances (the crazy modifications or out of the box thinking) they are accepted. I guess there's only one way to judge, and that's to post a picture so we can take a look

Welcome,I'd like to see pics of it,my own preference is for 90s mercs and also had difficulty finding a home, merc forums are boring But RR has great variety of stuff,I would never have owned a jag if I hadn't come here, and there's many others on here I'd like to own Just get some pics up soon!

There are plenty of more 'modern' vehicles on here, not everything is old. Why not start a build thread, post up plenty of pics, what you have done, how you did it and what you plans are for the next mod. The place is very accepting.

Hello and welcome. Everybody's perception of retro and what it acceptable on here is quite different and somewhat like a tin of worms at times. It seems to be a very early T5, T5 all the same. I do like the Doka trucks and think they're quite a quirky wagon all be it modern. I nearly replaced my vito with a T4 Doka truck and started a thread in regards to them which seemed to have a positive response, I actually drive pass a T3 Doka and I'm half tempted to knock on the door about it. Anyway, thread here. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/184801/make-cool-unsureIf you're hoping to try something new, with the "retrorides" spirit I would be interested to see how you go about it and would be keen enough to read about it.

Personally it's not that retro but why not? Stick a thread in readers rides.

I recon it has the potential to accept retroness very easily indeed.

Welcome, although the VW scene isn't for me personally I don't care what vehicle someone drives if they want to be on a forum to chat. I have a Volvo V70 so can't really complain about your 2003 van.

Fully understand it's not quite retro at 13 years old, however I was thinking it would fit better on here than the average t5 forum as there all camper vans/day vans and chatting about drive away awnings and black out screens doesn't really fit this one. I had seen your thread previously and certainly swayed me towards giving this one ago Plans for now are sorting the wood on the dropsides out, have a banded set of steels on the way, possibly a canvas canopy made up for the back and then adapting bits to make life easier at work. will start a build thread and see how it's received. The thoughts, opinions and knowledge that I see with other peoples cars on this site would be extremely useful in going the right way from the start and hopefully once its aged a bit more it might fully qualify to be here cheers

Id be VERY tempted to paint the cab with the old Graffiti paint, like a sandy beige and then paint the banded steels lime green or something. Naturally, on paper that sounds bad and, probably in the flesh it will look bloody ridiculous BUT in a good way. It will certainly stand out.......... Basically, the paint and the steels will transform it into something that isn't just another pick up truck, right? PS: Obviously beige and lime green doesn't go together.....
