Not sure why people keep saying I refused EVERYTHING. Like I said, now several times, GT40, Monteverdi, Bitter CD and Merak/Bora for example would definitely be considerable. So either people are not reading the full thread or I don't know why people keep saying I refused everything under the sun.
Yes, I did refuse two-door saloons which tickle absolutely no boxes on a Pantera. I also refused cars which are more alternatives to a MR2 than a Pantera and a few other legit alternatives to a Pantera which just do not have what I'm looking for or are way, way, way, above my budget.
Anyhow, I spoke today to somebody selling a red Merak. I will drive up Sunday to look at it.
P.S. Nobody on this side had a hissy fit.

Don't shoot me if it's already been mentioned further back in the guise of another model number but first thing in my mind was a Ferrari Dino. Here's one for sale by KGF1 ... m.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C779701Alternatively for a lower budget a TVR Tuscan ?!? Certainly has muscle car looks but on a smaller scale and I'm guessing too low roofline?! The only other Pantera equivalent I can think of is ACDC.

I'm not a fan of kit cars. None of them look really good. All the kits look cheap. I particularly hate replicas. In the end of the day it's just a fake. Apart from very, very rare things or impossible to get, replicas are silly in my opinion. Like replicas of cars you can buy such as Lamborghinis and Ferraris. There are some very high quality kit-cars out there. Some stuff that's very hard to tell apart from the real deal. Which made me think of one of these:

It's a "new Stratos". Kit car, built on top of a Ferrari 430. Mmmmm There are a number of other awesome kits out there, but the more awesome they get, the more a Pantera seems a reasonable amount of money! Cheers Duncan

danc, you've mentioned buying a Fiero and getting naughty with its engine. This proposition is by far the most RR one, so go ahead and do it. It'll make for a good read! Oh and we won't hate you if you sell the project halfway through to finally buy a Pantera like you should have from before the start. Just as long as you give everyone a ride up the hill at RRG, we're good.

To be fair fella, f you'd be happy with a Fiero, what about a Fiat X1/9? I came across this little gem on this very forum the other day... And I keep thinking that with a bit of work around the rear, that would be a bit Panteraesque. Or have I had too many wine gums?

Had a good LOL at this thread. No there is nothing the same as a Pantera. I'd drive one before buying though, I'm a short and they're cramped. They're stunning and still one of my favourite cars but like the original GT40s they're not very nice to drive, and speed wise a warm hatch will dick all over them.
