Dealer options; Tailored MX5 floor mats. EXTERIORThis truly exceptional Mazda MX-5 in factory original Classic Red, (Code SU), boasts a pristine deep gloss shine and impeccable finish. The showroom fresh appeal with absolutely no colour fade or deterioration to the paintwork is owing to the incredible low mileage, garaged storage from new and dry usage only. The underside and sills are detailed to concours standard and the car has competed successfully at such events. Miniscule chips around the fuel filler and a tiny 1cm scratch on the rear bumper are utterly minor imperfections. The original Mazda Dealer number plates front and rear remain on the car. The black canvas hood is in perfect order with a tight fit and no cracks or damage and the rear plastic window is clear with no crease marks whatsoever. The epitome of a modern classic sports car, preserved to the highest order. INTERIORTrimmed in the standard Black Cloth upholstery this interior is exactly how Mazda intended. Everything is co-ordinated and operates perfectly. The flawless seats remain in exceptional order and the steering wheel and gear knob show prominent factory veins only found on extraordinary low mileage examples. The classic sports dashboard houses a cluster of crystal clear instruments that function precisely and retain a new car feel. The tailored MX5 over mats remain in place and protect the immaculate black carpeting. The tool kit, wheel brace and covered space saver wheel are all present and spotlessly clean. ENGINE & TRANSMISSIONTo experience driving a well maintained and cared for Mk 1 MX-5 is a true motoring delight. The lightweight 1.8 litre 16v DOHC engine sits in a truly immaculate engine bay which will amaze onlookers with a level of perfect detailing rarely seen. The engine, regularly serviced at Mazda, is lively and power flow very smooth with excellent low to mid-range torque. The close ratio short throw gearbox provides light and precise gear changes. Brilliant! WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This exceptional Mazda has been upgraded with dealer supplied seven spoke “daisy” alloy wheels in perfect condition. However, the factory supplied unrestored and virtually impossible to source steel wheels in pristine order are retained for the buyer to choose should they wish. Both sets of wheels shod in quality Yokohama 185/60R14 tyres with excellent tread and no cracks. 255mm ventilated discs at the front and solid 251mm at the back install maximum braking confidence. HISTORY FILEThis amazing example was registered new by Mazda Main Dealers, Bourne Road Garage of Kent, on 3rd April 1996. Supplied to first owner Mr Mark Sweet as a base model with emphasis on simplicity and weight saving, the car arrived with steel wheels and no radio! Three keepers since are all traceable and the incredibly low 19,202 miles from new is fully verified in the history file. The original Mazda Service Record booklet houses eleven stamped entries, the first nine of which are the supplying Mazda dealer. The most recent stamped entry at Bridley Mazda of Stourbridge was carried out in June 2015. All handbooks, manuals and spare key are neatly contained in the grey leather Mazda wallet along with an immaculately kept folder containing invoices and every MOT carried out from three years old. Virtually impossible to find in such original, unmolested condition, this car is arguably the best remaining MK1 MX5. Sure to delight the collector, this essentially perfect example offers a real insight to the no frills pure driving experience beautifully encapsulated by Mazda and difficult to emulate. This is KGF, they have higher prices, but seem to get what they want.

Just saying what a lot of people are probably thinking, personally I know which example I think is better value for money ( the one I mentioned was also a genuine uk example, not a private import).
Can just think of a lot of other cars that I could buy for 11k, that's all. Plus this guy's probably making a ridiculous mark-up on it, I work in the motor trade so I know what car dealers are like
Each to their own, me personally though, i'd rather buy privately off a genuine enthusiast rather than line the pockets of some greedy dealer

Same old . Some one will buy it , more tot he fool them . Price something ridiculously high and someone will assume its that much better than anything else and pay it !
Not illegal but greedy , as it then bumps up the price of every other one , much like renovated houses in a street .
I don't expect dealers to make peanuts but thats just greedy , i bet it cost them about 6 or 7k

Exactly, dealers keep getting greedier with their prices and thus it has a knock on affect, as then everyone else thinks 'well that one sold for that amount, so I can price mine the same', and before you know it cars that were once affordable classics that could be owned and enjoyed by anyone (mk1 & 2 escorts being perfect example) are way out of the price range of normal working class people (such as myself) and solely for the wealthy elite.
Sorry to get political but I know many others who feel the same way.

Why complain if you either don't want it or do want it but can't afford it.
They can put whatever price they like on a car, their gain or loss if it doesn't sell for that.
I've got my own thoughts on this car but apart from saying the above I'll keep them to myself.

Sorry to get political but I know many others who feel the same way. Escorts are expensive, but hardly the wealthy elite. My mates got one, and trust me he's not wealthy or elite. kjf are always pricey, god knows where they get there cars from. It's worth as much as someone will pay for it.

My only point was that the greed of a few is ruining the hobby for others, and i'll admit that saying the 'wealthy elite' was a bit of an over-statement and I apologise for any offence caused, but it does seem to be the way things are heading. Much like in the same way people who have say, lived in a country village for generations, are finding that their children can no longer afford to live in that area because of ruthless developers and people from the cities throwing their weight(cash) about and pushing the house prices sky-high, thus being out of reach for local, and hard working, people only earning a minimum wage. Worryingly this same tone seems to now being echoed in the classic car scene.
Classic cars should be, and always have been, something that anyone should be able to enjoy, no matter what their budget / income. But the recent trend for an extreme rise in prices for anything remotely classic, has left some feel pushed out of the hobby as they can no longer financially compete.

You should have purchased it and advertised it for 10K then seeing as you are in the 'Motor Trade' Business is business, people will always pay what they think something is worth even if it appears overpriced to some. KGF bring us some stunning vehicles which they spend time and money to source which is often overlooked, and people buy them as I said above!

It's called capitalism, that's how most of us make a living. You pay 'x' for a product & sell it for 'y'.

It's about overheads & service - you make yourself a cup of tea at home and it costs you pennies. You have a cuppa in a cafe and you're paying £2. Yet they aren't making that much on it when you take all the overheads into account.
Private sales of good early Mx5s are fetching good money. My premises alone cost £3k a week just to open the doors and people who complain about the prices never seem to think about that side of things.
Take the price of the car, add all the overheads, you get the price of a car people want to buy but they can't find themselves. Someone makes a living out of finding such cars. It's a bit different from what most of us on here are doing.
The point about prices is a fair comment, but it really ought to aimed at some of the cars offered on here which are just old rust buckets which people are asking silly money for. Just because a really good example fetches a premium price doesn't mean that a ratty worn out wreck is worth anything more than scrap value. That's where the profiteering is happening.
I really hesitated before adding to this discussion but I enjoy seeing these cars advertised here and I would like to see that continue.
Anyway - enough of the rambling - this is an absolute beauty and if I had the money I'd buy it. But I don't, so I can't.

What a load of nonsense.
If you don't like the price (or KGF's business model, for that matter) all you have to do is not buy it.
No more negative comments please. If the price of this car makes you feel cheated/amazed/angry, go out and buy a cheap MX5 while you still can (although good luck on finding an unmolested UK example with 20k on the clock!).

What I meant was I don't like labels, the dealer is selling a car it's his business that's what we all do make a living I quite like the car and it will find a home, someone who doesn't want to pay fortunes on a resto will buy a ready made minter, and good luck to them I say And that's a Danism ok??!!
