hello! i don't know if there's an actual introducing thread, i'm new to this forum.
i'm Dennis, 36 years old from near Frankfurt/germany.
i have a bit an obsession for odd cars (as some of you, what brought me to this forum!)
but see yourself:
my newest find, a 76 simca 1307 GLS, almost rust-free (can't belive myself), 87223 km from new, one owner.
found it last september on ebay for 500 euros buy-it-now, which i did. unfortunatelly i had to pick it up in the middle of nowhere in france near vichy.
so i jumped in my alfa 156 wagon (which blew the head-gasked on the way back 5 km from home. curse word!) and had a go...
i always wanted a simca 1307. i like the boxy shape . i like boxy cars anyway, which i bought also this a while ago:
he asked 500 euros, i talked him down to 200- great fun to drive. but looooots of work to do, it came from bulgaria and the car is...lets say, well used.
daily runabout(s):
mk4 escort diesel, one-owner-car, got it for free, the son of the original owner wantet to scrap it after his dad passed away.
i also got some of these:
left was an e-bay bargain, only 179,- euros, right one i got also for free with a snapped timing belt. got it fixed, now in my sister`s hand.
dad`s ride, also first owner, dad bought it in 1985 a few weeks after the Scorpio was introduced:
of course i have also some of these,too..
that yellow one will get his own restoration-thread somewhen in future. the car is still stored since i bought it 4 years ago.
mission this year: get the simca back on the road!
a few weeks ago i was "on the hunt"
Simca`s are VERY rare in germany ( less than 20 registered, maybe another 20-30 stored/abandoned in garages, sheds, etc. most of them too rusty to restore)
some guy told me about a former Talbot/Peugeot garage who may have some parts, so i went to ask.
the owner was very friendly, very excited that i was restoring a 1307 so he gave me this stuff in excange for the promise i have to visit him with the car when i`s ready:
feels a bit like christmas!
oh, btw, that old benz is also mine. parked there since 1982 or so, original owner was my granddad.
you see, I'm my family it`s a bit of a problem to scrap cars when they tatty and not longer needed...
that`s it for today.
cheers, dennis
