So I did spend a bit of time googling this morning, but hypothetically if you had a 4.5 out of a Majestic sedan and a 250 Daimler sedan, does the bigger V8 fit in the sedan? I've found some very old threads on different forums where people say they have one in their car, but not how they fitted it etc.
I'm just curious as Daimler 250 V8 sedans are relatively still reasonably priced here in Aus (I'm looking at manual ones), but of course I want something to embarrass Jaguars from the same era...

I'd never even heard of a Daimler Majestic, so that one is news to me! Finding the engine in the first place might be the hard part. Surely it wouldn't be your first port of call for a performance engine swap though?

I've heard of it too, but never seen it done. There are some SP250s running the MM engine though. The extra width is a challenge when fitting them into the saloon. Parts for the MM engine is harder to get hold of too.
As an alternative you could supercharge the 2.5 liter as Russ Carpenter has done with great success in his dragster.
I am myself fitting programmable ignition and a different inlet manifold to my Daimler 2.5 V8.
Try searching dloc.co.uk for inspiration. Might even be something on the old dloc-forum.

Or as an old acquaintance did with the 2.5 V8 he had fitted to his Mk4 Triumph Spitfire you could add NOS to it. Very fast car.

I think it's the same block albeit bored and stroked for the bigger engine. The 4.5 wasn't matched to a manual box as far as I recall, so you might need to do a bit of a flywheel swap. I suspect unless you got a tape measure out and measured the deck height that you wouldn't be able to tell one engine from the other just by looking.
