I’m selling my daily (Audi A3) on eBay, Facebook selling pages, targeted selling pages also and have been for the past few weeks. It’s priced well with a good advert.
All I’m getting is time wasters or people thinking they can knock 1k off the price, these have never seen the car!
I used to sell cars on eBay quite a lot but haven’t for about 18 months now, but everyone just wants to mess you around, I can’t understand why?
What platform do people use to sell cars?

I've used bumtree and farcebook lately having got cheesed off with fleabay. But it seems that no matter where you try and sell all you do is deal with time wasters who do nothing but mess you around all the time.

I don’t understand their mentality, surely they’ve better things to do?

There is nowhere safe!
1000pound car. Will u take 250, and this is without looking, via text after u tried to ring them, after they sent you a message saying "is thiere ne emote on subaruu" despite the fact I was selling a volvo.
If anyone sounds to good to be true they will be. If you get a group of people turn up, don't even entertain them, best you can hope for is eventually someone comes round who is genuine. There is nowhere safe from the messer.

Most of the stuff I've sold recently, has been very quiet on the offers front - but the one person to enquire & show up, always buys it- without haggling on the price ? So, am I just not getting the dickheads ?? The price can't be off putting - or else the guy would surely try & knock me down ? Either way, I'm luckily not lumbered with an extra car/bike that I want to move on.

Nowhere if i can avoid it!
Gumtree is full of scammers and'£200 collect today' emails on cars priced fairly at £500. Ebay is full of scammers also, amd costs a fortune to list. Nobody turns up from either. for rarer cars on the owners cljb as that worked for my x1/9.
Here is good! But i have only sold scrap so cant really say, sometimes a shame the old papers from the newsagents are gone!

Most recently, autotrader. Seems to be less time wasters on there.

Autotrader & on here so far this year has proved successful - I am highly allergic to timewasters of any creed / type and will not tolerate them in the slightest - a couple of classic car auction houses have also yeilded some pretty good results in previous years too but some are getting quite greedy with the commission.

Just really frustrating as it’s the cheapest in the country and mint condition. If it's the cheapest around that may actually be putting genuine buyers off, why's it so cheap? It might be worth putting it up a bit, that'll also give you a bit of room on the price for those like me who are allergic to paying advertised price for a car.

I would agree with autotrader I've sold quite a few cars recently and all of them went thanks to autotrader less scammers and idiots and mainly just people who want to buy a car.

To be honest since I’ve had the car advertised it’s screen has cracked, it’s not across the screen or anything and I’ve pictured it. I can get it fixed on insurance or the seller can use it as an advantage, this is stated in the advert along with a picture. Price wise I’ve dropped it £500 to account for the screen and to entice people but all I get are wasters, I’ve placed it into an auction now to see how that fares, it’s certainly getting more ‘watchers’ and it’s getting the bids in but I’m still getting the regular ‘2k cash today bruv’ trash. If trader wasn't so expensive nowadays I’d of gone there straight away, I suppose you get what you pay for.

I live on a corner of a busyish local rd and recently sold a PT Cruiser & MX5 within 2 days of putting them out. Good clear signs with price in big figures helps attract attention. Certainly less fuss than selling online!

The used car trade is on its backside at the min, no idea why. I have a few full time car dealer friends and they have been really struggling for the last few months.
I read new car sales are down on previous years too.

I read new car sales are down on previous years too. Might have something to do with used car prices atm, seeing cars for sale now for the same price they were 2 years ago, and they are the same reg. When I sold my 57 plate mk5 gti in oct 15 I got £6,5k for it, same age (57 plate) mk5 with same 1 owner fsh are still up for that much. Then you have cracking pch deals, Seat Leon FR 300 for £259 p/m with £259 initial (so 1+23). You can't buy anything like that for so little. VW have been doing similar with the mk7.5 golf gti and R

I’ve heard to many stories of people being billed thousands for damage repairs and missed service schedules etc when the car goes back to put me off for life.

I’m generally finding what appears to be that no one having the cash to buy outright anymore, I’ve lost count of the sob stories I’m hearing time and time again. Fair play to them though, some excuses and reasoning have given me a chuckle.

If trader wasn't so expensive nowadays I’d of gone there straight away, I suppose you get what you pay for. Get the screen fixed. It's 100% why your car hasn't sold. People do not want to buy something they immediately need to fix. I had two screens crack on me while the cars were advertised for sale, both at the same time a few months ago, so I feel the pain, all £240 of the pain, but they were unsaleable until the screens were done, and I did try. Also, autotrader is currently 4.95 for 8 weeks. It's one of the very cheapest options at the minute and gets actual customers.
