This was a cop standing on a bridges with a camera. He was wearing all black from the front and when I looked in the mirror he was wearing hiviz from behind. He was standing right at the end of the bridge by the trees so you only saw him at the last moment. I know I was in the wrong but what a sneaky bar steward. You will be sound then, he won’t know the law, he will be just as dense as the rest of the hand jobs in uniform Is this you taking the huff?

I think I've been caught today in the works Peugeot Expert doing 70mph on a dual carriageway. I normally only do 60 but was going down a big hill. Bummer It won’t happen, unless you’ve got stopped by the plod, I’ve never known a single person ever get done by a camera. I have the very same Expert van & have for about 5 yrs. First I heard about this was on here, didn’t even know it was a thing, so I’ve been speeding constantly for the last 5 yr, never been nailed. I’m not having it that they set the information into cameras, just no You evidently never travel the A21 in a van then. I know numerous people who fessed up for getting done on there after I got caught in a Caddy...😡

Back in the day when I drove subcontracted for TNT, I had 6 points and within the same week, was caught in a 60 doing 54 and on a duel carriageway doing 68.
Was taken to court over it and my solicitor explained I never realised in the van I was in meant to be below 50 in the 60 and 60 in the 70.
They took my books for 1 month, lost the job, under the totting up act.
Nice.

They've been able to detect vehicle size on A roads for years, must be 20? years ago they did a load of wagons on a local A road with the gatso cameras.

20 yrs ago they had axle counters under the road service next to the camera, nothing more exotic than that

BBC news has a tenuous link on how manufacturers, specifically Ford go to lengths to avoid huge import tariffs by changing the “Appearance” of a small van to a car. Vans & trucks have 25% import tariff and cars 2.5%. As such all the Transit connects made in Spain and sent to the US have cheap rear seats inside which they then remove once through customs saving £190 m! www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45875405

I actually didn't know this could effect small vans. I used to drive a huge 3.5 box van for work it could barely do 60 mph anyway but would drive it at max on 60mph roads all the time. Guess i got lucky!
Is there a way of looking online for this info? Would be handy if you could check a plate of a van/pickup before you purchased it to find out.
I'm sure my P100 is classed as a M1 as its a car derived but i don't have my V5 handy to check

Not as yet, but as it is a works van it would get sent to head office, then they need to find out who the van is assigned to, then they post it out to my local depot, and then my manager will contact me. All that could add a week to the process.

Just had a thought.......who remembers the astramax vans....1.6? They were seriously fast in their day, would they have been classed as car based? I guess not.

Totally laughable, firstly they hadn't bothered to spell check, secondly nobody has EVER been FORCED to overtake in a hazardous manner due to a vehicle travelling at a lower speed than said driver wishes to travel.
