I keep seeing a red Honda Aerodeck parked outside the local Spar shop. Everytime I pass it I think how frikkin cool it looks ;D However I am finding it seriously hard to find any info on them! (it all seems to be in Russian ) I am talking about the late 80's ones (not the later accord and civic aerodeck estates) IIRC they had a 2.0i, I am guessing that a 2.0 four pot in a medium size hatch back made them quite quick? I asume they are the usual j-tin 4x114.3 PCD? Anyway heres some pics to get the creative juices flowing.......

looked lustingly at these recently too, I used to think they were fugly, now i think they look like some retro 'modern' sports wagon. Want (anong with the rest of the list) Must have a lot of potential.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I quite like the look of these, kind of like a big civic and if spottedlaurels Accord is anything to go by they should be loaded with toys. The was a tidy looking one on ebay recently.

You could take a look at this place: www.3geez.com/forum/I signed up as they also cover the 1st and 2nd gen models. I’d imagine most of the info you find will come from America as the Accord was a very big seller out there. Note that their saloons had front ends with pop-up lights like the Aerodeck. See also Stuyizz’s car for inspiration closer to home.

Fat Civic. Great bit of kit, I had a mate that was into them, I nearly bought one several times, Just couldn't find an Injected manual at the right price. The cheap ones were all carb or auto.

What would be the chances of getting an Aerodeck AND a 4-dr Accord accord from the same year in the same colour, swapping the front ends and creating two unique Accords?

Its probably vey, very possible knowing japanese car manufacturers. I was going to put a normal civic front (of the same age) on my del slo. then realised it wouldn't make it any less gay and decided not to.

I used to have (back in about '94) an '86 C reg Aerodeck 2.0EX (carbed 5 speed manual) in silver. Apart from an appetite for clutch cables, seatbelt clips and ECU's, it was a really good car. Quick, but not too juicy. really naff interior trim though - like it was trimmed in black ticking!

If I recall correctly, the design was originally intended to be a replacement for the Scimitar.

These are lovely cars but do have a few common problems that seem to kill them off, Sills and arches rust away but are still available for not a lot, unlike the ABS pumps which corrode internaly if brake fluid changes missed and car laid up for a while. Also look for rot behind the front screen as they suffer the same as rover 200s/ 400s. Watch out for Honda parts prices as well, how about £50.00 for a front indicator! On the plus side they have one of the sweetest chassis around, multilink independant suspension all round with tiny little coil overs and all the usual extras you would expect as well as an absolute gem of an engine if you find one with the 2.0 twin cam. This is mine, and the wheels may be for sale if you do find one

Used to have one in THAT gold, with THOSE seats. Loved it to bits, until it beached itself on a raised manhole, just over a speed bump, on a new housing estate and pierced the sump Housing company gave me £150 for it, and that was the end. Quickish though, ~9/10 seconds to 60, for the auto version I had. ECU/wiring problems ahoy, though.

I don't think the PCD is 4x100, more likely to be 4x114.3 in line with the Accord saloon. I think they're great, I've been berating a friend of mine for scrapping a fairly decent one. I think these got Honda's 2.0 12v engine, along with a 1.8 12v (saw one on eBay recently in slushmatic form). They aren't all that powerful, but are very unstressed and reliable. These later Aerodecks are also pretty smart IMO, if a bit more conventional.

Stuyizz, your Accord looks the shiz! Cheers it's not looking so hot now, monkeys ate my spoiler and then the handbrake didn't hold fully and it rolled down my drive into a neighbours wall I can't speak for other ages but my shape is 100% 4x100
