Good evening people, I'm looking for a retro/classic pick up truck for my new venture. I'm thinking series 3 109 landy but is it a daily and reliable enough? The 4wd would be handy tho as the business is dry stone walling. Thanks in advance.

As long as you are prepared to accept them for what they are and not expect any creature comforts or need to make any motorway journeys a series would be fine.
The original diesel is no cheaper to run than a petrol so you may as well run a V8 on LPG.

I'd be going for a C10 if your budget stretches to one, quite a good investment as well as values are heading north for short bed trucks.
Or a Brat, I'm biased though.
Funnily enough it will be easier to find a clean C10 rather than a Brat.

Another vote for landy s3. As already said if you can live with it, easy to fix and good parts supply if you’re careful where you buy
P100 would be good, but try finding one that’s not rotten as a pear, particularly the cortina variant
Edit- would think in that line 4wd would be essential

Have you driven a series LR ?
If you have fine, you know they are slow, heavy things to drive and if you get 20mpg out of an original engine you are doing well.
Effectively they drive like a 1950's truck as bar syncro on 1st that's what they are.
Parts availability is fantastic so easy to keep on top of, but you will be keeping on top of it...
Some of the other options above appeal more to me as a daily drive option, but not all of them so good in narrow lanes / fields.
100 miles a week why not, 500 would be painful.
Oddly enough modified ones such as TDI conversions that might suit you well are often cheaper than original ones.

Absolutely loving some of these machines, the Subaru i like a lot. 4wd I think is a must! The S3 to me just looks the part in 109 pick up model. Mileage wise I reckon 200 per week. Looked at a few with the more modern 200 tdi lump.
