The tall Model T coupe was, for some reason known as the "Doctor's coupe". Ford promoted the coupe with a marketing campaign based on the theme "The doctor and his coupe", so it stuck as a memetic identifier thereafter. Doctor's coupes were originally horse drawn carriages which had a roof and doors. The idea for the campaign was to sell the practical reasons for buying a car with a fixed roof. The campaign extolled the virtues of it by talking about the need for doctors to be out on the road at short notice, any time of day or night, and in all weathers. So it made it seem like a wise and sensible choice, and implied that if one was as smart as a doctor one would choose this new fangled design even though it cost more than the convertible T. They're not actually taller. It's an optical illusion. The cab is shorter, front to back, and later Ts from 1926 had an updated design that amongst other things raised the engine cowl and had more door than glass, creating the effect of a less tall cabin in later models. So there was no 'option' of choosing a T with bigger windows. You couldn't choose between a low and high roof version at any given time. It was just an optical side effect between different models.

The Philippine Red Cross on their way for an emergency lunch, note lifting a wheel, so in a hurry. Could have been taken on Roxas Boulevard, near where we live, possibly also taken during Yolanda. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_HaiyanI was stuck in Tondo (Manila) with no way of getting through 7' deep floods to the office in Makati. Working from home indeed!

My ultimate respect too - Only thing I've achieved for the RNLI (apart from donations) is to be immensely proud of the work that they achieve - But I did project manage the installation of the new floating berth pontoon for the Brixham Severn class lifeboat in 2007

Many years ago, I applied for a job with the RNLI. The ex and I had done loads of fundraisers, including Menai Straits Raft Runs for them, running into thousands. She was a teacher, so hit them at school, I was a drunk, so hit them in the pub. We battered the coffee morning trade, although I suppose they had a different target audience. So I got invited for interview. Suited and booted I sat before the board. "So, how do you propose to increase funding?" "Hit 'em while they're young, got them for life." "And?" "Hit 'em whilst they're drunk, they'll have forgotten tomorrow. Then hit 'em again." I was deadly serious, having several years of experience. They were silent. I guess they were more the coffee morning type. Never went any further! Shame, it would have been a dream job. Funnily, we did the Macmillan 4x4 Challenge one year. First time out, we (well, the ex) pulled in 6,500 quid. Not bad for beginners on a single event!

Yes. In GPO Telegram livery. They were normally ridden by spotty teenagers though, rather than pensioners. 🤣
