Is anyone else rediscovering their love for forums and internet based communities during this lockdown? I'm finding myself spending more time commenting on here, on Facebook groups, and on 'car friend's' posts than I have done in years. Do you think this will continue after all this becomes recent history? I'm intrigued as to others opinions on this. Stay safe XXX!! ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) !!

Since when did it migrate from SHELTER-IN-PLACE to Lock Down? No idea, it's a buzzword. People are calling it what they're calling it depending on how they are justifying their own actions ATM. I guess I'm calling it lockdown because I'm in a position in which I am comfortable enough to be able to isolate effectively. I'm self employed, so not getting much help, but have been able to adapt what I did before to earn a little while staying at home. Many of my friends aren't able to do that. But this is a car forum, so I won't talk any more about that. Have you posted more on retro rides in the past couple of months compared to previrusness?

Since when did it migrate from SHELTER-IN-PLACE to Lock Down? It is Shelter in Place in the States and "lockdown" in Europe. I've found this forum is not only busier but has more quality content too, which is really nice, being busy is no good if it is just trash. It has also meant I've got some extra time to do some of the stuff I'd been planning to do this year, so it has been done in the first half of the year rather than across the whole 12 months. Still got plans for improvements yet to come ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I've also been rediscovering quality blog posts and very focused sites are still around, just need a bit more digging than they used to because facebook ate up a lot of clicks and people got disheartened. I think the web in general is having a bit of a renaissance as people have a bit more time to browse again rather than going to the same three sites over and over and over and over ...

My viewing both here and on other forums has gone up since lockdown. I find being able to push all of the Covi gloom to one side and loose myself in all things automotive is keeping me sane.

Great to hear that its having that effect! I think you're right, people are turning to the internet to stay connected and be sociable a lot more than they used to. People need community and if the pubs, churches and coffee shops are closed, the internet welcomes them with open arms haha. I have found I'm spending a lot more time in the readers rides section than I used to. I think its partly because I have actually been posting my own regular updates for the first time in about 4 years, but there also seems to be a lot of people updating daily or weekly as they socially distance with a bunch of tools and some old tin. I think there may well be a lot more 'sorted' cars at RRG this year if it all still goes ahead *fingers crossed*

I'm frequenting RR lots these days, and I'm really glad plenty of others are too. My Facebook use has tanked since the lockdown. I need to use it for work, so I have a blanket "unfollow everyone" policy to make it bearable - I like my friends and family but I'm really not interested in their political views or their hot takes on pandemic control.

Rediscovered my love for this forum, which led to me booking tickets to the weekender, which led me to almost finishing my car after 4 years off the road!
MOT end of the month 😁

I tried to remove myself from facebook about 5 years ago when the political / racist posts started expanding out, i unfriended / unfollowed everyone and stayed for groups alone but during "these times" i found myself scrolling through relentlessly again so i've gone for the full delete this time around. I think i've got about 10 days left before the 30 days cooling off period is over and i'm free forever! That does mean now that I have a circle of 3 sites to loop through - BBC News / RR / Instagram so I find myself checking for updates more frequent than posts appear though!

Nothings changed - I'm still working flat out but my work is what I post so nothings new (Now just to quench the few 'Smug' trolls on RR 'I know and I'm very grateful / fortunate in that respect')
I don't do face ache or any other of the 'Like me - why don't you' type things' - Don't even have my e mails linked to the smart phone - its too big a distraction whilst I'm in the workshop
But other than that its business as usual - regardless of the current climate the restoration market is very strong too with people revaluating what they own and what they desire to do with it - in many cases accelerating the fact that they would like restored / returned to the road - so for the foreseeable future there is a queue of build threads on the horizon from me (not all Jowett based either)

Since when did it migrate from SHELTER-IN-PLACE to Lock Down? In the US it was officially shelter in place here in the UK it never had been given a name, lockdown was just a word the press promoted as it sold papers.
