:)I have a problem which I'm not sure how to deal with. I love Skoda and it's cars and am very proud of it's heritage. I've grown up with Skodas being around me all the time and it kinda upsets me that the old ones that were the butt of jokes have become as rare as they have.
The problem is this.....I can't stop buying them! At the moment I have:
1972 S100L 1984 Rapid 120 1984 Estelle 120 LSE 1988 Estelle 130 LSE 1988 Estelle 130 GL 1990 Rapid 136 RV Dynamics kit car based on an expired 1988 Rapid. 1997 Felicia 1.3 GLi
Some of these are on the road, others are restoration projects.
I'm also storing a 1989 Rapid 136 for a friend to restore, and possibly buying a Mk1 Favorit and been offered at least 2 other Estelle's via email!
As well as cars I have 2 sheds and a council lock up full of old spares, and a load more at the garage/MOT centre I run in Royston, Herts.
Am I obsessed, excentric, ill, crazy or have I just lost the plot totally? ;D

You say people are emailing you with offers of more skodas? Could it be folk are taking advantage of this obsession!? But seriously, whatever makes you happy, at least it keeps you of street corners, sniffing glue.................. hopefully

There's nothing wrong with you. You've just got enough money and space to do what we'd all like to do

I think I might be borderline 'off the rails'. I consider the Corvette to be a perfectly sensible daily driver. Hell, it averages about 15 blasting around town, which is acceptable, and I (as proven today) can fit all my shopping from Tescos in the back, which promptly gets thrown around, as I attempt to reach the legal limits as quickly as traction allows. .......Nurse! OT it took me 5 petrol stations to find one with a working airline today - do these things go on strike or something!

the more cars you own the less chance of you finishing one. I've learnt that the hard way. Do you wnat to be an accumulator of tat slowing rotting into the ground or do you want to sort any of these cars out? Few of us have the faciities to keep more than 2 - 3 maybe 4 cars and keep them from rotting away to nothing, yet having a garden full of scrap is seen as somehow heroic. (JC seems to be an exception to this rule...)

(JC seems to be an exception to this rule...) I've learned the same lesson in the past. Between us, Ratdat and I had one of nearly every model of Datsun ever imported....all at the same time. They were parked in a field at his place and when a passer-by complained, we spent many months breaking a lot of them up and getting thoroughly sick of doing it too. In the end, a car was lucky to donate it's fuses before we crushed it with the JCB. Datsuns are too rare to pass them up so when I'm offered one, I usually get it and I have built up a large collection again but this time, have somewhere dry to keep them. Also, I'm being paid quite a hefty pension already so that, coupled with very low overheads at my workshop, means I can spend part of every week doing my own things. It also explains my low hourly rate when working on customers' cars. I'm not doing it to make a million....more for fun. The trick is to concentrate on one car at a time and fix a target for that car and how far you want to go with it. A lot of mine are getting just enough attention to get them back on the road reliably. Then they're passed on. I have a core collection of 10 or so which will never be willingly sold. I still feel obsessed, excentric, ill, crazy and have just lost the plot totally.

I've leant the Lesson Alistair talked about there too. not just recently, I have been in and out of the situation since I was 21 and got a 'Must have' XR2 but failed o sell my poor old Volv 360. However I'm slightly better equiped these days if slightly out of control, numbers are coming down as we speak! Aaaand my best car will be focused on after Xmas...

don't forget Dave runs a garage. so its not like his cars are sitting rotting away, so he IMO can join the exceptions list.
personally i feel anyone with lots of cars is fine. as long as they aren't getting worse for being owned by you. which is why i've thinned out a bit, down to 13 now (IIRC)
