I've been offered a very low mileage Bi Turbo with the Turbo gone, it is in lovely condition otherwise and comes with a mid resto MG Magnette too, any ideas of costs / availablity / desirability? I really fancy it!

PPC recently covered the Maserati Bi-turbo, it might be worth finding a copy. It was fairly detailed but I don't have one to hand!

My old man was lucky (?) enough to have one when they were new - it spent more time back in the dealer than it did on the road, and I remember their solution to it sucking in curse word through the air intake was to stretch a pair of tights over it to act as a filter!
It had chronic turbo lag, was styled like an 80s Hyundai and he got rid of it after a few months because it was so much trouble.
But.... it made the most awesome noise and the shove when the turbo came in was phenomenal! Do it - it's only money, after all!

I know the bloke who has done this to one  the front is ok, the back is just EURGH... oh well. Too ricer for me, but by damn does it SHIFT! Caught up and passed us in a mk4 supra easy.   |

The yellow one looks like a Ghibli to me. A standard Ghibli Cup model is absolutely awesome - I just love the understated squared off looks. Absolute madness to buy one though, unless you've got some cash ready to burn...

Absolutely wonderful machines, but not sure that I'd have one as a daily driver. I think that this was a bit of a lost era for Maser, coming from their glorious past and not quite arrived at their present. Would love an early one with the stainless trim and no bodykit, yum!
If it's a good un (turbo gone for a burton... hmmm) then w00t but a fixer-upper sounds like a headache.

The turbos on them are IHI ones, RHB5 if I recall. As used on some Daihatsu applications, including the Fourtrak if I remember correctly!

Its completely custom, restored by mutany automotive, silly stuff like the wide kit, smoothed (engine bay is GORGEOUS though!) S2000 rear lights, stuff like that. See the website for details. |
