This is my daily driven Cortina. She's standard at the moment apart from the wheels and the slamming, but after 4 years of hard labour the old Xflows starting to chuck out a bit too much smoke so plans are afoot for a 2 litre injection pinto and five speed. I also quite fancy a set of 15 inch satin black weller motorsport rims.

Thanks. I'm hoping to sort out the scabs on the back panel and the front wing soon too. I cant deciede weather to change the colour though. I've thought about a more modern colour but that blue has really grown on me.

I think its olympic blue, the same colour as they used on the mk1 RS2000. Its not the original colour, under the bonnets metallic blue. As for the mirror I think I get away with it because of the age, its been through 4 MOT's since I've had it with no problems. And yeah its a 1600 xflow, but not for much longer ;D ;D ;D

LOL at crazy near 2 year update! Looks great both ways. I always reckon the door frames do look best painted black on 4 doors. So is there a plan for phase 3 Rev?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Its been a while since i updated this, it took me half an hour just to find the thread. In the intrest of keeping it all in order heres a few pics of when i fitted the pinto back in november. Say bye bye rattlebox ;D Jobs a good'un. I started it about lunchtime on the saturday and drove it home 9 oclock sunday mornig Then, over christmas i got around to fitting the megasquirt i built a year ago. Coil pack on custom fabricated bracket Crank pickup on another custom bracket. ECU and relay board in non custom glove box. *Where it says 'custom' substitute the words 'bodged together out of old scrap' ;D After a week or so of sodding about with ignition maps its at the point now where its really drivable and way quicker than a standard 30 year old engine ever deserves to be.

After running around in primer for a couple of years I decieded it was time for a bit of a pretty up, seeing as my escort wasnt looking to be ready for any shows this year. I bought a litre of satin black paint to do the bonnet and a set of wheels I had kicking around, then I started to wonder what it would like if I did the whole car and would a litre of paint really stretch that far? I started rubbing it down and gobbing it up last sunday afternoon. By 9pm it was looking like this. By ten it was in primer. One litre of paint will cover a cortina.... Just. From ten feet away it looked ok. The paint was so thin in places though that when the sun hit it you could see straight through to primer. Still, Jesus liked it.

Afew months ago i bought a set of mondeo alloys on a whim. I've always liked them but they wouldnt have sorted the cortina when it was all ratty looking so i just put them in the corner of the workshop. Last week i dusted them off, got some tyres put on the and tried them on. Bit of transformation, don't ya think I was so impressed i took a load more pictures. Anyway, the paint was still letting it down so saturday i got it back in the workshop and bought some more paint. A bit of rubbing and filling. A bit of squirting. And by 5.30 sunday morning it was all ready to drive home. Three hours sleep later and team deluxe are ready to go the classic ford show.

Just a few more pics now that the paint has dried and its not quite as patchy as before. I'm quite impressed with the finish, not bad considering the time i did it in and the pony equipment i have ;D Now to get the interior sorted out before the retro show next month.
