Sorry for the late reply, Ive been stupidly busy at work... Thanks for the kind comments! Not yet unfortunately mate. A chap from MX5Nutz has offered me some carbon fire arches, but I suspect they're only arch lips, and not proper flares (i.e. ones that need cutting/riveting) LOL. I'm not going to lie to you mate, a year ago I wouldnt have bought this car. When I was hanging round with my mates every day, I would have been cast-out for buying this thing! Especially as I used to give my friend a LOT of stick for driving a Del Sol! But I spend more time with my partner now than my friends, so when we do catch up theres usually no room for hairdresser jokes. I get them at work, but then I do more racing than the two guys who call me it, so usually a challenge to the track keeps them quiet. It really is fantastic to own though! Thats not something you see every day, honesty on the internet that isnt insulting! Thanks man!

Thanks again Nah, still hunting for an arch roller. Been quoted upwards of £450 to have it done by a garage, so Id rather do it myself. Thought Id found someone on the SXOC willing to hire one out, but still no reply... Edit - Got a reply about 5 mins after that, woohoo!

Thanks for the advice mate Not much progress again I'm afraid, there are two main reasons for this. One is a distinct lack of money, and the other is my friends' dads project: Its a MKIV Supra TT, it was imported as 'Overnight Racing's demo car with 650bhp. Hes been rebuilding the fuelling and electronics side of the engine recently, swapped the cams for some more aggressive-profiles and changed the ECU. It still needs mapping, but the turbo will flow 800bhp...Id love to be able to sit here and say that the reason my own progress has been slow has been because Ive been up to my neck in Supra parts building it for him, but I havent. Ive just been staring in absolute amazement all winter as its taken shape. Anyway, moving on... As you probably know, weather has been pretty terrible recently. Which is a shame, as theres plenty of niggly little problems to keep me busy, as well as lots of new photo-locations Ive spotted whilst driving around. Here was one, although I didnt get quite as many as Id hoped for, literally 30 seconds after I jumped out of the car, a funeral procession pulled in. I felt like such a tool... I then moved onto an abandoned science lab, which Ive always thought looked great from the road. Hoever, I got about 8 feet into the complex when I heard a cracking beneath the tyres. Looking out, some little tossers had been smashing light tubes everywhere! So I backed up a bit and grabbed this one before leaving: Anyway, Ive been after a steering wheel for a while. Not that I dislike the factory Momo one, I just wanted a suede one that wasnt so cold in a morning. Digging through some old stock boxes at work, I found one that was perfect, a Mountney 340mm. I offered the boss £30 to take it off his hands, and he was reluctant ''letting it go so cheaply''. So he went on to check the computer to find out its proper price..... ...£3!! He was gutted, and I certainly havent been that happy in a long time. Not only did I get a cheap (but now old) wheel, I shafted the boss in the process, result! And because my factory wheel was already using an OEM Momo wheel boss, £3 was all the swap cost me. The new wheel in place: And proof that I have THE coolest pet on the planet, heres Toto learning to drive in front of the mirror...although I must confess that she had been drinking beer previously to this... And, while we're on excuses to lack of progress, Ive also been looking at another money pit. I spotted an old Celica whilst letting the other half have a go in the car on a quiet industrial estate. I'm still debating whether or not to go up this afternoon and make him an offer...Ill load the pics onto the computer and then post 'em up, maybe you guys can give me some advice.

Dude, I love this car, and that lip makes it! As for rolling arches, its not hard to do with a hammer and a brick! but if you wanted to get them done you have to consider the larger the flare then there may need to have paint applied to the arches as the paint will crack. use a heat gun to warm the arches to soften the paint. but if your not feeling that, try these..... www.archenemy.co.uk/index.htm

Thanks for the link mate, I tried Phil originally but he wasnt willing to travel this far north, which is fair play. Ive arranged to hire the roller for the beginning of Feb, so Ill have a go. I'm not bothered about the paint, bits have already cracked off where its had contact with the wheel, and I'm sorely tempted to spray the car matte red anyway...

Thanks Well, doesnt look like the Celica will become a money pit any time soon. He ''wouldnt take any less than £1800 for it'', this may have potentially been my own fault for expecting a bargain, but Id sooner try and plait curse word than pay £1800 for a car that doesnt even look like it can move, especially when theres an absolute cracker for sale on PH and here for £3500!

Update: Rented an arch roller from a very kind chap on the SXOC, picked it up Sunday and had a blast the following day. Although a fairly simple idea, its fairly difficult to do. Luckily I'm already planning a respray so I wasnt too bothered about the paint around the arches. Handy really as I couldnt get near the heat gun! Close up of the damage already caused by the scrubbing tyres: Not quite finished yet, work has prevented me from finishing it off, so still got the rear O/S arch left. Driving the car since has made me glad though, the remaining arch is now the only one that scrubs! When I do the final one, I think Ill have a go at flaring it too...

UPDATE: Had another day of it yesterday, rolled the last arch and tidied the others up a little bit, as well as making the car nice and shiny: Admittedly, it was a nice warm day and I was getting a bit stressed. Luckily, Leanne was on hand to cheer me up again, I found this laid out on the bed. With the car all nice and shiney, I decided to go out for a drive this morning. I even took the roof off, proof that it does come off!! Then, whilst driving about, I spotted this. After a chat with the owner, I gave him a deposit and will be picking it up sometime in the week. Its practically brand new condition wise, and only 69k miles! Definitely an impulse purchase. I learned to drive in one, and ever since I got rid of it I missed it like hell. Seems a bit odd driving one now I know how to properly, and having had the '5 too to compare it to. I still love it though. Not sure at this stage whether Leanne will keep it or if we're going to sell it on to a friend, but I cant wait to drive it home.
