The ones in my dad's elise were blue. It was a fairly uncommon choice though as the only exterior colour they did that went well with blue was... blue. And who would choose blue on a lotus? The locost is pretty much there, just got to put the chopped sump and baffle plate on. Was meant to go testing last friday but I've been ill so it didnt happen unfortunately Will definitely be at RRG10 though!

The blue/blue thing makes sense, no wonder I was struggling Just had a look at your sump modding thread, good stuff! Hope you're feeling better now, I'm looking forward to a passenger ride in the beast at the gathering, haha ;D

My dad's was orange with a blue interior :S whoever ordered it in the first place obviously had an odd taste in colours. They did fit it with a motorbuild VHPD package though so they had good taste in modifications! Will the MR2 be hitting the track at the gathering then?

I should think so It'll probably disgrace itself with the manky ditchfinders it's wearing, but who cares. Did a lot of track/autotest stuff a year ago in my saxo, getting severe withdrawl symptoms! That Elise sounds like a recipe for eyeache... my bedroom was purple/orange for about 5 years and I'm sure that had a harmful effect on my development.

Mmm, mango They're in! Was a bit more work than I hoped, a lot of fabbing necessary. That said, they fit so well it's almost like they were made to fit. The seats sit between the MR2 runners perfectly (few mm clearance each side), at the perfect height, correctly aligned to match the pedals. Lovely ;D Materials: 2x elise seats (duh) 6mm steel bar for cross braces 4mm steel sheet for vertical sidemounts. Bolts, nuts, spacers, washers Several angle grinder discs Sticky metal gun etc etc. PICS! ^Just placed in. ^front support bar joining rails ^trusty dirty block of wood to aid with height alignment! ^You can see attachment points here, the threaded studs on the front will go through the transverse support bar, the side holes... ^...will bolt to these. ^Thick steel = angle grinder abuse ;D ^ Sidemount plates on. ^Line them up. ^Tadaa! Bar across back for more support too. ^Drivers side was much more complex, had to pull the seat apart to get the runners off properly ^Poor thing Started rushing at this point to get it done before we had to go home, so no photos until we finished the drivers side. It's much the same anyway... Drivers side sits lower than passenger side, different runner design from factory. I'm not complaining! As an aside, my other prize (other than the t-shirt) from winning the Touge Automotive photo comp (previous page) was a custom wrapped part of my car. Voila! So much better driving position now, and I can sit upright! Novelty! Off down to the workshop again now to whip them out and paint the frames.

Just had a browse through your thread and wanted to say what a nice job you're doing on that MR2. Love the individual touches like those seats. Hows the back working out with those? I have driven an S1 Elise and they're pretty much fabric/leather stitched right over metal! Looks like you picked a good one to start with too, which is no mean feat. I'm slightly envious of the state of those rear quarter panels. You should see mine Chris

Sorry Chris, missed your reply! Thanks for the comments, I'm pretty pleased with how it's evolving. Next job is to get the lowering springs on - desperately needs them but I'm spending quite a lot of time driving along farm tracks at the moment so they're on hold for a bit longer to retain the tractor-stance. The driver's side Q-panel is absolutely mint, I think it must have had a complete new quarter at some point. On the passenger side it's starting to go through around the repair its had (mostly around where the arch liner fits around the fuel filler pipe), which is a bit of a shame. The seats - getting on really well with them actually. You're right in that the padding (or lack of it) is horrific, but the driving position in them means that I don't get backache or anything. Longest trip so far in them was about 2 and a half hours last weekend, and apart from the start of a numb-bum I was fine when I got out. I'm as surprised as you are, haha! Just had a flick through your thread, and I'm massively jealous of your wheels. Don't suppose you fancy a swap for some genuine period TOM'S Igettas do you?

Long time no update I've been at uni in London, back home now with the car though so fettling has commenced. Oh look, Supercharger lights ;D Apologies for phone camera photos (left camera in London..) and the absolute filth covering the car (helping out with night lambing on a farm and don't really see the point in washing it until I finish!). Chuffed though, I reckon they look ace Not entirely plug and play, needed to make new holes for the (further inboard) number plate lamps. Also need to extend the cable for one side of said plate lamps. The right cluster has been damp at some point is really crusty on the electrics inside, so I'm going to transplant the cluster loom/bulb holders from one of the stock lamp units tomorrow, and swap the RH reversing light out for a red tinted fog (JDM doesn't need one stock), we'll see how that works out. That's it for now, need a powernap!

I wonder if you were the person I was bidding against for a pair of these on fleabay...
Lovely build so far, the blue/gold combo works. I like the stock toyota headunit install too. Have you got a rough idea how much each seat weighed before you put them in? How do you find them comfort wise?

Not sure how much the seats weigh, but the internet tells me they're about 6kg each, which sounds about right. Bloody light, whatever they are Comfort wise they're great as far as I'm concerned - not a lot of padding but the shape is supportive and good for posture, so I don't tend to get many aches in them, even over fairly long distances... Got the lights from a guy on IMOC at the beginning of the year, so your ebay rival was someone else OD - Haha! The rubber seals on mine were pretty shot, I'm guessing it's a common problem

Ah! Those I picked up for an absolute steal on the for sale section of these boards. Worth keeping an eye on if you're after some Probably just keeping it at that for now, the seat change was a bit of a necessity anyway.

My seals crumbled completely, i just ram along the entire outside edges of the lights with them half fitted with black sealant, then bolted it all up once it went tacky. Not had a drop of water in yet...
