My seals crumbled completely, I just ram along the entire outside edges of the lights with them half fitted with black sealant, then bolted it all up once it went tacky. Not had a drop of water in yet... I did similar but with gooey sealant tape, working well so far! How wide are the seats if you don't mind running a tape ovet them? Need some skinny seats for my kitcar! Sorry, just had a chance to do this, they're 49cm at the shoulders (widest point). Oooh. Updates. Been a while! I noticed your wheels up for sale/swap. Shiny new ones soon? Really tempted to get a set of the new Rota Shakotans...

Update: Rewired nasty light cluster: Before: (ignore red bulb, this was still wired as reverse at this point, I was just checking how bright the bulb was for Foglight use. After: Much cleaner! Also, my oil cooler pipes (out and return) started leaking ages ago, just through age. We tried to make up some replacements, eventually settling on lorry airbrake pressure hoses, but they still wept around the connectors. Bit the bullet and rang the local Toyota dealership. Two brand new hoses, ordered straight from Japan, quality. £80 the pair, which is hella expensive for what they are, but they're cheaper than a new engine. Currently looking in to adjustable coilover sleeves and short stroke shocks. Polyurethane bushes might be on the cards when I have some coin too. And new wheels. And I want to get some ITBs on there eventually. Urgh, too many plans, not enough time or money, haha ;D

Progress! Well, sort of. Aesthetics: Bought a spare bootlid from a breaker, wanted to try a despoilered look, I like it. (Thanks to nocturnal for the photo) This will get tidied up/holes filled in at some point, it's watertight for now though so that'll do for the time being. Was at A52 for the April playweekend. Fantastic fun, and as we were on a lowering-spring spree, we had a crack at the -40mm springs I'd brought with me. Fronts went on okay (apart from the stupid brake line retention on the strut body...), but the rears were a no-go due to seized ARB link nuts on both sides. Unfortunately nowhere had any replacement links in stock that day, so we put it all back together again. I'd not done anything this in-depth with my own suspension before, so it was a fantastic learning experience, thanks lads. After letting it settle for a bit (the springs were used, so already run in, and I did 100mi on the way home from Bristol) the front was still the same height as it was with the original springs on. I'm guessing 20 years of use had sagged the stock springs ~40mm! Decided on a new course of action, so I found a buyer for the -40mms, took the MR2 to my dad's workshop and sat in the corner swapping the front springs back again (something I wouldn't have attempted solo before the play weekend...). New plan is in the works, some people know it already but I need to look in to it a bit more before splashing some cash. I also picked up a mk2 rev3 turbo 19mm rear ARB (complete with polybushes) from ebay for a bargain price, and just ordered some new rear ARB links from blueprint. Should stiffen the rear end up nicely and help to eliminate some of the tendancy to understeer. Fingers crossed. Solidly decided on wheels too, and they're not going to be JDM style Surgery: The slow rust bubbling on the NSR arch has started speeding up, so I'm dealing with it. Bought a Sunny (N13 I think?) rear arch repair section a few weeks back. The arch curve/profile is very close to the mr2's and it's a much cheaper way of getting a decent bit of metal in there than MR2 repair sections. I'm back in London now so the car has gone to a bodyshop my dad uses for an at-his-leisure spruce, hopefully the relaxed time frame should get me a decent price.

Awesome....just awesome. I'm tempted to photoshop it lower, but a big part of me wants to wait and see it lower for real so I'm going to restrain myself and hold back with the photo editing ;D It's great to see it getting metalwork replaced before sticking cool wheels on it, makes the wheels that bit more special knowing they are going on a good, solid car rather than a distraction from the essential bodywork. Grreat stuff Adam and I'm looking forward to seeing it a bit nearer the ground. Fingers crossed for the MOT...not that you'll need it

Love it Makes my alloys look positively skinny! The small diameter wheels and spoilerless rear end will look even better with the car closer to the ground. Shame about the rot but it's par for the course!

Thanks for the support guys, I'm really chuffed with them! It's nice to have the arch sorted as well, I actually felt genuine relief when I knew that the cancer spreading through that corner was gone, as sentimental as that sounds! Will endeavour to get lows delivered ASAP

Any more progress with the lows? I think i need some inspiration as my chopped springs probably wont cut it once my 16s arrive...

Lopped a few coils off some stock springs pre-gathering, here's a before/after: Not a massive change but cut down that unsightly arch gap a touch. Shouldn't have thought you'd have had too much of a problem with 16"s, would fill out the arches much easier I think? What profile tires are you going for?

They come with tires so will see if they go ok. My issue with the coil chops is that the rears are unseating BIG TIME. Every hump in the road gives a soul destroying clunk from the back. Normally I'd smile and carry on regardless, nut duff suspension just goes against my ethos if what my aw11 is about. I think my only real solution is gonna be BK adjustable coils.

Set of BC's is on my (very long) wishlist too Back at parents' house for Christmas break, had a cheeky peek up the 'yota's skirt to see what was underneath: Well, it's still there, phew. The Stormforce cover I bought myself for my birthday (why not?) is doing really well, bone dry under there despite recent rain/wind/snow/sleet. Might go out again in a bit (if the weather holds, can't be bothered to have to dry it off again before recovering...) and give it a good warm through, not been run for a few months now

Thought I'd update this, though not much has changed. Biggest difference is a cosmetic one, mainly. One of the exhaust tips (see above post) mysteriously disappeared in the week after the gathering. Think I may have clonked it in the camping field then shaken it loose shortly afterwards, oops! Making the best of the situation, I trotted off to an excellent weekend with the TAB crew to coincide with the Brighton Speed Trials. Brought some bits of pipe and a box of bacon cakes and this materialised on the Sunday morning: Photo credit and most of the crafting kudos go to Rich, good man, and thanks to the other guys for the cracking weekend, great 'Bahn hospitality and accommodation, and ace company! It's the same Scorpion backbox as before, but the pre-silencer has been chopped out for a straight bit of pipe from the scrap pile (perfect diameter, matching flange... it was fate) and the new tips chopped about to what you see above. Satin blacked the whole lot to protect it and match the wheel colour. Well chuffed. ;D Car is my daily again this year, thoroughly enjoy every drive!
