I've used one Flare of these for many years and many cars, just get a small pipe cutter from B&Q to go with it. |

I'll second that Powerhand jobbie. Excellent piece of kit.
Those multi-piece sets from Draper etc. aren't fit for purpose and should be removed from shelves IMO.

Holy thread resurrection! In the end I threw away that piece of cheese I posted in my OP and bought one of these: Flare ToolIt's much less fiddly than the other style and with a little care flares pipes pretty consisitently. However I will say that if those Powerhand jobbies were around when I needed one I probably would have plumped for one of those. A proper old school Sykes Pickavant one would be the dream. |

The Sykes-Pickavant set is a joy to use, but needs to be held in a vice. I love the Powerhand one 'cos you can use it on-car.
