Hi all, new on here but have been browsing for a while - some damn cool rides on here. Thought I'd share my bug that I've had best part of 3 years now.
Originally a 69 but now has a 72 chassis. It's my first car (got her when 16 now 19), my daily and it's been a good learning curve owning her (still know curse word about dubs but one day I'll get there)
I got her from Bournemouth and she sat in my grandads garage for a year while I did a tidy up. Can't possibly list everything but got a new front beam, discs on the front as the drums were shockingly bad, few welding repairs, new carpets, new headlights, shocks, wiring, stereo, more por15 than you can shake a stick at as well as a list of things as long as your arm.
This is how I got her - pretty stock, mainly solid but needing some tlc. Unfortunately don't really have many pics of the process
As she looked when I brought her home.
Unfortunately this happened 1 week before my test (I'll never know what happened but I'm pretty sure someone loosened my wheel bolts but then realised I had locking nuts and left it) Scary curse word when you are doing 50-60mph
No real damage done though, just wheel bolted back on and away we went (got to love old cars ;D)
She stayed like that for a while until I started getting itchy feet again, she now looks like this
1200 engine has recently given up the ghost so a 1600 (with twin carbs eventually) is on the cards and a lowering job which I've never got around too. Got a period hella fog to fit, some paint to sort and need a new door. Probs some fibreglass wings too. Hmm this list is growing....
On a final note my grandad had a bug in the 60's, was dead against me buying one but then when I took mine home went out and got one for himself ;D Dubs are infectious for sure!
