Just a bit peeved off. Agreed a deal to buy a certain XR4x4 for sale on this very forum by a well known 'collector' on here. Was supposed to receive said car tomorrow. Took time out today to go to bank (pay to park in town, walk to bank, queue up in bank during dinnertime rush), re-arrange day tomorrow to make sure I'm in the right place at the right time - received text message (that's right, not a phone call) at 9.45 tonight to say he's decided 5 mins ago to keep the car. Am I right to have seen my or not? Maybe the seller should apply more TLC before repeatedly posting if there is any interest in the vehicle(s) he has for sale? I didn't even bid him on it!

Did you see the car before committing? Had the 'seller' even seen the car before offering it? Wouldn't be the first time.... Oh and I reckon you've got away lightly. If we are having a rant.... Last week I 'clicked to win' this on a well-known auction site cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180290696269An easy project, taxed MoT'd etc for that money on my doorstep I figured it wouldn't hang about... Arranged collection for saturday morn, and certain I was onto a surefire winner, paypal'd them the money. THEN it turns out there's no tax, no MoT, no V5 and no floors. Quite pi$$ed off! Have these people returned my money? Have they feck. They have claimed about 9 times that it has been refunded, but paypal have no record of that happening. I have documented all correspondance and lodged a claim with paypal, but an outcome won't be decided for at least another week.

I think as we're all adults we should be able to sort these things out without resorting to posting it on a public forum. It's a bit out of order, but perhaps a PM in the right direction would be the best way to go with it?

Name and shame I say! Let all the other prospective buyers know what they might be in for... Some other forums i frequent have a feedback section purely for that reason. I've been let down like that a few times myself and it really pi55es me off!

Have already let the vendor know about my chagrin before posting on here. Just thought it fair to warn others who may be entering into a similar deal with the same person. If that's wrong of me, then my bad, all opinions have been taken on board, thanks for the replies.

See, the plot thickens!
First there was, then there wasn't, now there is again.
As for Les509's problem, I think that seeing as this is not the first occasion of this individual mucking forum members about it is pretty justified. A six month ban from posting in FS&W might sort their attitude out?

As soon as i saw this topic i had a feeling i might know who you meant, and it looks like i was right. you would think from the last time he got told off, he would either stop posting cars for sale, or actually sell them. p.s. anybody fancy a Montego

This boards moderation is quite harsh regarding off-topic threads - surely that same firm touch should be used on a proven eejit who messes members about?
If I were to take a wild guess, Id say the problem has nothing to do with the seller wanting to keep the car and everything to do with the seller either never having laid eyes on it themselves and been let down further up the chain, or having received a better offer elsewhere.

Offering to sell something you don't have posession of is Fraud . By allowing the perpetrator of this fraud to post the offered article on a website ,the owners of that website are opening themselves up to nasty litiqation.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Ah, didn't realise it was the serial offender... I figured it was just a deal that had gone a bit wrong. In that case, maybe something should be done along the lines that Pog suggests?

Tell you what guys,.. tell us about a problem and we can deal with it. Allude and hint to a problem/member and you're as bad as women that complain we didn't get them what they wanted for Christmas even though they 'hinted' at it.
Talk straight. Tell us who is at fault and we can look into it. Saying "A certain member" or whatever is of no use when moderating a forum.

At a guess, VickyTLC pulling out of the sale of 'his' XR4x4... retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=FSW&action=display&thread=46988He of 'sellinganAustinMontegoeventhoughhehasn'tboughtityetandthenitgetsboughtbyanotherRRmemberfromtheoriginalseller' fame. HW, I think it's because a lot of forums have 'naming and shaming' policies, through fear of legal repercussions. I think the situation is pretty clear cut in this instance, however!

I don't like the idea of people selling stuff they don't own either, as pog pointed out, and that seems to happen as well - effectively someone trying to act as a middleman and bumping up prices for the rest of us.

Better offer isnt a good reason to bail on someone - once you have agreed a price, you have agreed a price...in my eyes anyway
