I've had similar: expressed interest in a Cinquecento a long time ago and talked to the seller on MSN of all places. Said I was seriously interested and would happily talk money after a test drive and to let me know when I could view it and see what's what. Silence ensues and I eventually find he's sold it after having no serious offers (?!). Turned out the car wasn't up to much mechanically so it was a blessing in disguise. Strange old world out there.

Tell you what guys,.. tell us about a problem and we can deal with it. Allude and hint to a problem/member and you're as bad as women that complain we didn't get them what they wanted for Christmas even though they 'hinted' at it. Talk straight. Tell us who is at fault and we can look into it. Saying "A certain member" or whatever is of no use when moderating a forum. Agreed So having looked at the posts etc etc vickytlc has a pm from me and a week in the sin bin That makes me judge and jury and if I'm wrong then I'll revoke it One thing that any community relies on more than anything else is trust and honesty

Given that they've a history of it (Escort estate anyone and slightly dodgy eBay ad?) I think that's probably suitable.

I went after a Sunny Coupe a few months ago. Phoned the (trade) vendor about 3 times over the course of a week and each time was assured the MOT was done. Got there and a big hole in the strut tower and no MOT "oh yeah VOSA's down" he says I phone work "VOSA down ?" "No" So I get home about 8:30. 12hrs and >£100 of train fares later.
I won't travel to view cars anymore. Too many tossers about.

I once drove to Denver to buy an old Jag... turns out it was a rolling tub of filler.
Note: Driving to Denver is like someone in the UK driving to Moscow.

Haha! Nah not quite.. I did contemplate drowning the guy tho. IIRC it was an 1800 mile drive.... REALLY enraged me. Car was bodged underneath and full of filler and fiberglass underneath. Up top it looked great tho... arrgh.

I won't travel to view cars anymore. Too many tossers about. Unless it's very unusual or very cheap on ebay and I've already bought it, 20 miles is about my limit.

Ive bought stuff off VickyTLC in the past and ive been happy, hes even gone out of his way to meet me and seal the deal. Personally Ive had no problems at all.
Youve got to view VickyTLC as a trader. Hes not selling his personal stuff/cars like most of the other sellers on here, hes buying cheap and selling with a bit of profit in it for him. He made the mistake of trying to sell the Montego before hed actually bought it and tried to keep the fact he hadnt even seen the car a secret. FAIL.
He agreed to sell the XR4X4 then backed out of the deal at the last minute. FAIL ( I think that 4X4 was a bloody bargain too, I feel gutted for you, Les)
If it turns out he sold the XR4X4 to someone offering more money that makes it an EPIC FAIL.
The one person whos losing out the most in all of this is ofcourse the seller, VickyTLC. The for sale/wanted board is run purely on goodwill. If this carries on hel find it difficult to sell anything!
It leaves a bad taste for everyone else buying and selling on the board. Bit of a mojo killer, really.

If it was VickyTLC, how come "Harrison Ford" was swinging his handbag about and flouncing off in a huff?

Yeah, it was him who was "selling" the car to Les.
Just didn't want VickyTLC to get accused of something if he didn't do it! ;D

A brief summary,
1. VickyTLC advertises a Ford Escort Estate, with 'dubious' details in the description. Since it was purchased from another RR member (IIRC), the 'dubious' details are easily found out.
2. VickyTLC advertises a Montego Estate, which is found to be For Sale elsewhere by another person, since VickyTLC hasn't even bought it himself yet. It is purchased from the original seller by another RR member.
3. VickyTLC advertises an XR4x4, which another RR member wishes to buy. and makes arrangements with VickyTLC to collect. 5 minutes before the meeting, VickyTLC texts to say he's changed his mind.
The three above points all relate to someone who has extremely poor regard to anyone else apart from himself. The saddest point really, is that VickyTLC himself thinks he's done nothing wrong, and always aggresively defends himself when confronted with such facts.
I'm not sure if he's delusional, or is too dumb to understand the concept of ethics, or just doesn't give a sh!t?

i got the impression that HarrisTweedFord was pished-off the way that VickleTIC was treated on the forum, and thats why the tirade of insults and the dummy spitting.
I may have read the situation wrong, of course. but ultimately, if you trust someone when buying from them, just because they are an RR member, perhaps you will get stiffed once in a while.
like the "2.8 capri' type9 gearbox i bought recently from an RR member, it didnt have a gearstick, had a diesel bellhousing, and in fact is a diesel box, with some serious shaft wobble, so 50 quid wasted, dishonest description, shonky prooduct - my own fault for believing most people are, generally speaking, honest

I had assumed harrisonford was vickytlc posting under a new username due to being gagged?
Its true that every now and then people get a bum deal, whether something isnt as described or whatever, and that goes for buying anywhere really, but vickytlc appears to have been taking the curse word/messing people around on a fairly regular basis.
Just because someone uses a close-knit community website doesnt automatically make them trustworthy, and its in the interests of the communities members to share information to avoid others receiving the same fate.
