Super rare Lancia Beta 1.6 Berlina for sale, 1979 model. This is Fatha_Bo11ox's daily driver. Its a decent car but he's no longer into spannering for fun, he just wants to drive his car and this car, being a 70's lancia, demands regular titivating, so I have persuaded him to take on the Rover 214 i've been fixing. Effectively we've swapped cars.
Bodywork: 'Good'. I got this car about 4 years ago with some minor accident damage to the drivers door and wing. I think it was a one-or two-owner up till then. Fatha_bol took a shine to it so I gave it to him and he fixed it with a new wing and secondhand door + bumper. The wing and door have been painted with mixed-to-order aerosol cans. The colour match is good and theres a nice thick layer of paint on but the finish is poor. Its looks like its been painted by an old geezer (it has). Theres also a ding in the rear door on the drivers side, paint is unbroken though. The rest of the body is remarkable, NO ROT! There were a coupl of small bits on the front end of the sills but i've chopped that out and welded in new steel, apart from that theres no rot or welding and the paint is original. We've been at it with the waxoyl which has helped preserve it. rear arches are just starting to bleb up a little, but are a long way from needing any welding.
Interior: Very good, all fittings present and correct and everything works OK. No radio is fitted.
Mechanical: 'good', the car is in daily use and has no particular issues. Work done since we've had it: Cam belt., water pump, fuel pump, cyl head skim + new gasket, stainlass steel 3/4 exhaust (cost £400!), fuel tank flush, new carb jets, steering rack rebuild, conversion from obsolete 2-wire Bosch elec ignition to common 3-wire system using VW golf components. Other odds + sods, tyres CV boots and the like. Just had an oil change last week.
MOT is till august next year. It did not need any welding at the last MOT! Mileage is about 100k I think. We have a massive wad of old bills and reciepts for it from before we got it.
This car is an old Lancia not a Mondeo so it will throw up surprises every now and then - keep a few spanners in the boot, my dad does. It often pulls daft stunts like fouling a plug, getting a bit of moisture in the dizzy cap or getting an air bubble in the cooling system which sends the auto choke loopy, stupid things which would drive you mental if you did not know the car well. We have put that down to a) lack of use, my dad does 50 miles a week in it and b) the fact that its an old italian car.
It drives nicely once warm and sings along the dual carriageway, quite low geared so 80mph is about 4500 rpm, the twink is quite happy to sit at that all day though.
How much for this extraordinarily rare beast? Well I don't feel its quite up to my usual standard of overall sortedness so i'm asking £325, ABSOLUTELY NO OFFERS though. Its taxed till August next year but if you want that i'd have to ask you for £75 extra for it. Its in Wisbech, PE13 and I will deliver in a 50-mile radius for the cost of the juice if that helps. Its not RWD and I wont swap it for a bag of spuds/Sega Megadrive/ounce of crack/picture of your mum in a leotard. I will sort some additional photos tonight. If you are interested send us a PM ot give us a call on O78OO 9O2396. Hope you like!
This pic is about a year old, i'll get some better snaps tonight.
