Right,
FINALLY got a throttle cable for the Audi and boshed it on earlier today. I'm my excitement at finally getting the thing running after its head-swap I decided to drive it to work.
As I got to work it started to run a bit rough. I didn't have time to check it out so I only managed to look at it when I finished work and wanted to go home. I found that one of the redundant injector holes id sealed off with a wooden dowel had blown the wood out was now sucking in air.
Now what I Did next is pretty stupid....
I got a latex mechanics glove, screwed it into a ball and sealed off the injector hole with it. The engine ran fine for all of 10 seconds before the inevitable happened and the glove was sucked in and ingested by the engine. There was a funny flapping noise, then the engine seemed to clear a bit. I drove the misfiring Audi home (3 miles) and it seems to be running well enough, seeing as the injector hole is still open.
Ill make a better job of sealing the injectors tomorrow, but can I expect a latex glove in one of the combustion chambers to do much damage, if any? I'm hoping it will just get blown out the exhaust but I guess it could have bent a valve!
Any ideas?
(please... no laughing!)

if its any help, I once tried to stop a diesel landrover by stuffing a beanie hat into the air intake. It ate the hat, and kept running. Exhaust smelt for a bit, and I had to buy a new hat. other than that no damage. Cross your fingures and hope, I'd say. Valve gear is way tougher than latex In fact, do it again, but get video this time ;D

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Erm... I have no idea what would happen! I am, however, very interested to find out! If there's no combustion in that cylinder, I can't imagine it would have been ejected in one piece... How very strange (and a bit funny. A bit.) ;D

I thought that but as there was so much air being sucked though the injector hole I doubt there would have been enough fuel when drawn into the cylinder to for the spark plug to ignite.

hahaha, brilliant, (sorry!) it'll be fine i reckon.
But i would definitely be soaking a latex glove in petrol and setting fire to it just to see what happened to it - for investigation purposes like
does it have a cat? if not i wouldn't be worryin at all, valves are much tougher than latex and would definately win in a fight

I'm guessing the glove wouldn't have survived the combustion process.
The flashpoint of diesel is at >62°C (143°F) I think latex would have given up long before then and turned to a puff of smoke out the exhaust.
I think you're in the clear.
