Just a thought - is the engine now running quieter than before? You can put a shredded plastic bag into a diff to quieten it down... maybe a shredded rubber glove would quieten the engine? ;D I'm still LOLing about SOC's hat too ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Maybe next time I get a scrapper I should see what it can eat before seizing/exploding.. Latex gloves, welding gauntlets, budgies, cats e.t.c The possibilities are endless! This thread is class! Can just see the feathers now!

I once watched someone pour sand into the intake of a running engine. It didn't last long.

I once watched someone pour sand into the intake of a running engine. It didn't last long. I remember a thread on AudiFans (I think) where someone had supposedly poured sand into a running engine as they'd been told it would sandblast the innards, effectively porting/polishing the manifold. Cue 40+ pages of "WTF", not sure if it was exposed as a joke though. I'd love to get a scrapper with a running engine and just start feeding it stuff to see what happens. Start off with another latex glove (just to be sure it's risk-free), a beanie hat (experiments should always be repeated) and then move onto, ooooh perhaps a sausage roll or maybe a dog turd. Could finish the experiment with a disposable lighter.

Was it a RHD glove?
What a curse word.
Do you think it'll ever be a classic though a Datsun DUGONG what a test of skill?
Did you fit it with an air filter to the air filter?
Do you think your engine would eat a Charlotte Rampling novel?
Perhaps you went out with your glove, thought it was stolen, but then realised you left it somewhere else?
All good suggestions.
Sorry to have a laugh at your expense mate but I did find that rather funny. ;D

The sand in the engine to port/polish the engine innards first started on a honda site in the states (iirc) I believe it turned out to be fake, either that or the OP just said it was a joke to try to stem the torrent of abuse he was getting from all corners of the globe.
Just returned from work and the old Aldi seems to be running pretty well, theres no choke cable so its a bit lumpy and wont idle until its hot. The journey from work is only 3 or so miles so it doesnt get warm enough to find out if its running 100%. I guess a new choke cable is on the cards! Starts first time anyway, choke or no choke. I'm very pleased overall. Next step is a proper krypton factor tune.
It seems to be producing more power now than it ever has done but I think this has less to do with it eating a glove and more to do with it having a reconditioned, ported and polished Golf GTI head on.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Tim - priceless. Happy it's not caused any grief.
Had this dilemma a year or two ago when i filled the focus up with oil - then left the filler cap in the engine bay somewhere. Realised in the middle of nowhere at like 11 at night. Half pondered ramming something (like a sock) in the oil filler to get home. In hindsight i'm glad i thought best of it.

A big hand for LankyTim! Lmao! Seriously though, I'm glad you could finger it out in the end! I'd make some joke about your audi along the lines of it taking more than five fingers to fill her hole, but I won't.
