all right - big box of parts arived today, so I will be getting it back together, flushed and filled up, hopefully tonight but maybe spilling into tomorrow.
Also getting nightmares about the head gasket being knackered, so I might get one anyway and do it at the weekend.
Anyone local got a compression tester I can borrow?

but....can't drive him to work tomorrow, was getting a little squeeky on the test drive. it appears one of the gaitors has lost its zip tie and some grease, so need to pack it out and zip it up tomorrow evening! fun fun fun!

after some help on the main board with rev counter wiring - it worked: so i got some wire, soldered and heat shrink in the joins and got it fitted: nice to get a better idea of what the engine is up to.

My B rev counter was dead so did a similar thing to you: Back end is looking nice there I reckon. Be good to see in a colour. You keep tempting me to debumper mine but fortunately lack of skill is keeping me off!

cheers guys.
lack of skill shouldn't put you off monty, i've never done it before, and getting it in colour is going to be another new experience form me. I've got my filter/reg now so once it warms up a bit the spray guns are coming out. Quite excited but a bit aprehensive at the same time.

larger than life update today.... well, i couldn't wait any longer, I had to try some spraying! so I cleard some space and hung my doors up. set up the compressor and gun with my ne filter reg....and don't forget - safety first! got the primer mixed up and after the panel wipe - layed the first coat down. Its a bit patchy as i was playing with the settings and getting used to how it all works. got a better coverage on the bootlid, with a smoother finish too. I was getting too much air through on the doors. while that was drying i had a play with some fibre glass. went back to have a look, but.....had a reaction against the halfords filler primer...on all the panels. I flatted back one of the doors to get rid of these areas, and then used a different rattle can primer over the yellow bits. hopefull this one will work better with the celly. will find out when I do the next coat of primer soon. The repaired door drying: Definately an experience today, its not easy but ive got plenty of paint and a whole car to practice on

I had a reaction with Halfords primer over filler as well when I did the door on the Dolly. Took frigging ages to sand and prep twice in the garage and the end result was a finish worse than the rattle canned on the drive Golf I did previously!

been tinkering with terry, this shows the right and wrong shapes for a front tie bar! and this shows the curse word that came out the engine bay! That alarm wasnt wired up to the power, and the 'sound deadening' does a bettor job of either drying up and catching fire or trapping moisture and rotting the bulkhead so thats beeter off in the bin. Evidence of waxoil around the bulkhead too which is encouraging.

Well.....had an issue in the 'torrential rain' on friday. had a small pond in the drivers footwell so I went searching. couldn't take the drain plug out as some clever soul at the factory put them under the sound deadening. Sound deadening came up to reveal a small hole around he drain plug and a poke around showed the door frame, wheel arch , door step and inner sill were letting in water too. wehey. I then did something i've never done before. I took an angle grinder to a taxed, tested, daily driver With two days to get it cut, welded and painted before heading back to work I cracked on. Finding and Cuting the grot: Started templateing and making panels And the bottom of the door post reconstructed as ever, ran out of time, run low on wire and had to get the train to work this week. Woohoo. Going to get some wire and gas. don't like this gasless set up really. Going to order a doorstep and inner sill repair panel to save some time next weekend. Hope the weather will hold so I can get it done! I'm sure plenty of you could have done it in one afternoon, but I'm learning, and I'm sure ill get plenty of practice with this one.

Looking great, always fancied building a Sebring.. I'd avoid most things from Halfords, especially the paint and primer. Here's a gratuitous pic of my old 'B that I built..
