Spotted some chrome smoothies for sale near my mate, in the right PCD for his 300ZX. He says his car does not turn enough heads. He wants to spend lots of money on wheels, which right now he hasn't got, so just has crusty stock 16" alloys. I say he should get the smoothies and rock them till he can afford his 2 grand forged thingagummies. Opinions on what this looks like please! Rich

Old style wheels on a modern car......always a bad idea until you see it and realise how totally full of win it really is. If someone told me they were going to fit some smoothies onto a 300ZX I'd just and walk away. Seeing the pic above takes my initial doubt and shoves it right up my own ar$e.....it looks simply EPIC in that "I don't know why it works, but it just does!" kinda way. DO IT! (as long as the wheels are 16"+)

If it ends up looking like that photochop then go for it. But you're probably still mad anyway, aren't we all?

Do it ! That looks ace.
Do be sure to get the white wall tyres too as it is playing a big part of how the car in the picture looks.

My girlfriend was looking over my shoulder as I opened this post (luckily I managed to minimise the other tab before she noticed : and even she said "ooo, that looks nice". I therefore conclude that chicks will dig a car with these wheels. To summarise - MAKE HIM DO IT

You are not mad, that is an amazing idea. In fact, if it were my car, I'd forget about finding some 'unique' alloys and just rock that look all the way.
You have no alternative but to convince your mate that we all speak the truth. Use extreme violence if necessary.

For some reason it reminds me of the DeLorean in Back to the future 3.

It shouldn't work! but it does... really well must be the shape. Get the spoiler off too and a few other subtle bits n bobs n ya could be onto a winner.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

As said, remove the spoiler, side repeater, reflector on rear bumper. Maybe add some very subtle ghost scallops on the side, between the arches.
Ooof material, waiting to happen.

As others have said, it shouldn't work but it does! This'll probably be right off the deep end but how about painting the centres red and some matching scallops over the front in this sort of stylee...

That is incredibly awesome.
It now looks like the prototype drawings you see designers sketch. Brings all the right lines out in all the right places.
Dooooo eeeeet.
