I don't want dating, or cooking, climbing, gardening or decorating. I do however want to talk about the DVLA, parking wardens and the price of petrol. They are all subjects that are related to cars, but not actually about cars. That's perfectly natural. If I went to RR Gathering and struck up a conversation about my dogs, or van runs in the 80s, would I be chucked out? What's actively being said here is p155 off and go and chat elsewhere...... Fred, we don´t want dating, cooking, climbing, gardening, decorating, DVLA discussions, parking wardens or discussions about the price of petrol either. What´s actively being said is not to pees off but keep it on topic, we´re here for the cars, modified old ones preferably, not the rest of the bullsheet. FFS it´s not exactly rocket science Oh and with wisecracks like "If I went to RR Gathering and struck up a conversation about my dogs, or van runs in the 80s, would I be chucked out?" Well you couldn´t have got that one much wronger either... just shows how little you understand about the way this place ticks..... No one that was actually at the Gathering could come up with a comment like that so maybe you´re right... ..........what's actively being said here is maybe you should rethink your attitude and go and stir elsewhere......

that's not a wise crack, I feel it's a very good example. Nothing I have said was meant sarcastically, you really would notice if I had been sarcastic, when I get sarcastic I am not subtle about it. As for stirring, that's a bit childish isn't it? I thought I was having a mature discussion. Clearly this is not the forum for a discussion, childish, mature or otherwise. Unless it's about old modified cars obviously.

The thing is this, the forum is a hub for numerous social meetings both real world at pubs, shows and our own event, along side virtual friends on facebook and PM'd conversations, all sorts of non-modified classic car stuff is discussed and enjoyed. This is built around a shared enjoyment of modified old cars, the forum bought us together for this. The forum is successful because of its focus. It never has had, and never will have a place for talking about the DVLA (unless in regard to modified car stuff, which is why Aceadvice threads live), parking wardens, the state of the road, women drivers, travellers stealing your hub caps or whatever else... What I find odd though Fred is you already have a place to discuss this stuff on the OSF board, why do you need somewhere else to discuss it?? If I want to talk politics (and I regularly do) I talk about it on www.reddit.com .. if I want to enjoy stupid pictures (and I regularly do) I go to www.b3ta.com .. if I want to talk about whats on TV (which I don't do very much) I go to www.digitalspy.co.uk.. If I want to talk about old/classic/modified cars guess where I head...

I am already a member of about 20 forums (don't go on all of them every day). They are all car related. I don't really need to sign up to any more, car related or otherwise. I don't really want to be flying all over the internet for different topics. Interesting you mention OSF again. is there some competition goin on here?

RR and OSF? Are you crazy? RR isn't in competition with anyone, we are in a class of our own.
I mention OSF as it is the only forum I know you are on with a proper off topic section, autoshite doesn't have one.
It seems you are now just picking things to have a discussion about, which is odd behaviour.

If I went to RR Gathering and struck up a conversation about my dogs, or van runs in the 80s, would I be chucked out? The forum is not like meeting your mates for a random chat. Its more like a business meeting with the focus point being discussing cool/modified classic cars. Yes you can "think outside the box" and add new and interesting ideas to threads, but you can't deviate off topic. Not sure if that makes any sense but oh well. Oh and an Off Topic section would be curse word, they are on every other forum. Matt
