This is not my car, but I'm posting it here as I hope your reactions will make my friend want to post here about it himself
So, on Thursday three fellow carclub members left on a ferry to Sweden in this:
On a mission to fetch a rotary engined Mazda that had been standing for 20 years. It was one of those trips that was bound to lead to some sort of disaster, so I was very sorry that I couldn't join the fun Anyway, they seem to have arrived in Stockholm on Friday after which they drove the 500 or so kilometers to get the car, load it onto the Canter, and wait for the ferry to take them back on Saturday. Today they were back and what they brought is simply amazing.
The SAAB badges were added during the seemingly quite boring trip back home.
13B engine.
Extra brake lights, not original, but very cool.
Very nice interior
Before leaving they said plan A for staying the night in Sweden from Friday to Saturday was going to a bar and find some girls to spend the night with. Not sure what happened but they brought back Swedish porn and stories of finding a hotel in a small Swedish town.
The car was used by its first owner until he died in 1989 and stood in a garage ever since. As a result the brakes and hydraulic clutch aren't working.
We took the spark plugs out, added some light oil, cranked it for a while and measured the compression. After deciding that everything was fine we fired it up:
My friend's intention was to keep it running until it was warm, but the garage filled with exhaust gases really fast as the gas chose not to go into the tube that should have lead them outside. But anyway it ran really smoothly, so he was really happy. And we're all very jealous...
