Hello my retro loving chums. I'm in need of your assistance in tracking down photos of late 80's BTCC cars (specifically the blue and white MKII Golfs) to help with my project car see here. I'm in the process of turning my track MKII Golf into a rep of James Shead's 16v MKII that was entered into a few rounds of the BTCC in I believe 88 and 89. The 3 pics below are the only ones I have found of his car (the top one) and another car in similar livery (the 2nd 2). Thanks to Rangerbob for this one: What I'm after is clear shots of the design of the door numbers with the Dunlop, RAC and Touring Car logos so I can get them made up by a friend. These were clearly fitted to all cars entered into BTCC inthose years so the car it's on isn't important, just that the logo's and Font are nice and clear. The other stickers which I would ideally like better examples of are the Quantum ones but I suspect these are specific to the Golfs. If anyone has any shots of these I would be hugely grateful. Hopefully some of you fine peeps will be able to help me out. nick

The Quantum one's easily solved Nick - If that's no good, I think a stroll into your local GSF would secure a bottle of the stuff to scan.

How things change. No air jacks and what looks like an off the shelf bolt in cage... * mild thread hi-jack *

They weren't front running cars and Class C was the smallest one with only three cars, all Golfs, any shots are of them being passed! It has however got me watching old BTCC now, currently watching 1994 Shead only raced in 1988 when it was the Dunlop RAC BTCC, in 1989 it became the ESSO BTCC but theres no mention of Shead, John Morris & Barrie Williams shared a GTI and AlanMinshaw was back with the Demon Tweeks car though. The BTCC door numbers were carried on the doors and bonnet and were identical for all four classes A-D as far as I can see, these three are all 1988 cars and have the same font. I'm hoping to run off my old BTCC videos to DVD soon, so can do some reasonable screen shots then ;D

Nick - might be worth dropping Neil Birkitt at VW Driver magazine a line, the old VW Audi Car mag use to feature the VW race cars quite a lot back in the day. Might be some old negatives about and Neil is the sort of bloke who'll be interested in the project I think.
