Main reason I say break it, is that I have owned quite a few Fiats, and as soon as the rust starts appearing it really does take hold, especially on the 70s and 80s models. If that hole under the filler cap is anything to go by, the rest of the car will probably be the same or worse After all, think of my Fiat campervan, I found out that it had been in a dry garage during its storage, and even then it has become 40% rust. If it had been an Abarth 130TC version, then it might be worth having a go at saving it, but being just a 1500 it really isnt

Just seen a Strada Cabrio on eBay being broken that looks a damn sight better than this one!
I should hopefully be having another look tomorrow, and have also built up the courage to take a screwdriver to it. I do have a feeling that PandaSelecta and Nigel will be right though. I really can't believe that it's stood for 8 years and that's the only rust.

if you really like the car - restore it
otherwise put it up on FIAT owners GB. I suspect one of them will have it.

It looks like its going to be very rotten. Can you afford to weld it all up and get it back on the road? I doubt it would be economical. Id break it then weigh it in. Kerchiing!

I think if you have to ask its probably not, if you loved it and had been chasing one for ages then you'd restore it without asking, it'll probably end up costing you a lot of time and more money than its worth to fix up, which is fine if you really want one, but if not its time and money you could spend on something you really do want.

What the others are saying holds true. Unless its something you really have always wanted, then its not worth it (to you). I would definitely try and move it on through a club/forum before breaking it though. Too rare to just weigh in, and probably not worth much in scrap anyway. If your heart isn't in it and you do start in, halfway through you might give up. Then you'll have a half-stripped project nobody wants, and you've put money into. You're less likely to be able to sell it, and it will owe you more money. Let someone who really wants one have a crack at it. If that's you, g'wan, get stuck in.

Not my cuppa tea, but if it's old/different it's worth doing - simple as.

I don't see nothing which cannot be solved with filler Being a convertible it might be worth a tiny bit more. If you have a soft spot (not top, but might be handy as well)for them, just do it!

Definately wants saving. Love the look of these and must be really rare these days, plus it'll make a cracking little cruiser when/if the weather turns nice again.

I haven't had a chance to get back to look over it yet, but as much as I'd love to save it, I do think its going to beyond my skills to repair.
I need to go before Friday to free up my trailer, so I will be giving it a prod, taking better all over pictures and sticking it in the for sale section.

Seeing that brings back some real memories I had one when i was 18 back in 1993 same colour and year used to always have ladies with me because of the car. Blasting Prodigy out with the roof down ...good times. Have a go at restoring it. If i wasn't in a flat with no parking or garage i'd be making you an offer.

Restore or break but don't scrap. Anything this unusual should be salvaged for as much as possible or pieced back together, rescuing could certainly do some Fiat enthusiasts a favour with a source of parts that might otherwise have disintegrated and been lost. Sometimes I let my heart rule my head which is how I ended up briefly with an Austin A40 Farina that I had to move on to a restorer... that would've been an awesome little car, and so could this in the right hands.

Oh, I would break it if nobody wanted it as a whole. Far to rare to just weigh in as it is. There are a lot of good bits from the look of it that would probably help someone, somewhere out.

I had a punt on a cab Strada on the bay late last year which ended up going for just over £700 - and that was with full ticket. A fair indication of values probably...

Gave this a good poke round today. Whoever said that it would be rotton was correct. The rear floor was nothing but rust. Put my hand straight through the rear arch when I knocked it taking the wheel off.
Looks like the big scrap heap in the sky beckons.
