If you can weld a Dyane without blowing great holes in it, you're handy enough with a welder! Nice to see that the grot's on the way out. I'm not great with a welder, but I did splash out using the 'best I can afford plus a whack of credit card' technique when buying it. I welded the chassis mostly.. that's almost a reasonable thickness.. A conversation with Jrevillug led to the decision that should I need to do any bodywork, lager tins were probably about optimum thickness to match the original ;D Matt, it has undertones of tree hugging to start with, why not play to them? EDIT: Been tyre hunting today. Best deal appears to be some 135/80r15 Toyos from Camskill. Bargainiferous at about £30 each

I've just put in a reasonable sized order with Vehicle wiring products (and advised them that I got their details from the goody bag at the Gathering this year). There are certain things that annoy me about the electrics.. There's no flashing or audible warning that the indicators are on (I think the little black box under the dash is both flasher relay and a buzzer, but the buzzer doesn't work, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!) and there is no high beam warning light. I've ordered a little selection of warning lights and stuff to rectify this. The plan is to move the existing warning lights (oil pressure, hazards, brake fluid level) to the where the blanking plugs are on the other side of the dash, which is only just off centre really, so not out of sight and have high beam, indicators and <something else> where they originally were. The <something else> is likely to be an inline fan in the heating system to get a bit more hot air wafting into the cabin. I haven't decided yet though. Really dull little things that just make it easier to live with over the winter

the standard indiocator relay on these has the 3rd terminal, if you put an led or bulb accross that and to an earth, you have a warning light Also, not being funny, its too high, i don't mean you should lower it, but seeing all the rear wheel centre is too high, about an inch lower all round it will handle much better (i promise) Before you do more to get heat into the cabin, make sure you keep it there, blankets under the seats to block escape, lining to the roof for winter (old carpet cut to size is good) Before all this, make sure the flaps in your heat exchangers have foam on still and make sure the corrugated heater tubes are good, if not new is easy and off shelf at specialists. I love Dyanes, ive had about 10 of them, currently have a LHD dyane van.

It's definitely too high, but you knew that already and with no disrespect to Mr. Stinkwheel, 1inch just ain't gonna cut it!

Also, not being funny, its too high..... ......but seeing all the rear wheel centre is too high, about a foot lower all round it will handle much better (i promise) There, I fixed it for you

Cheers Stinkwheel, I'll have a look at that later. Nice to know it's a really simple job Thanks guys. I'm well aware of this issue ;D I don't appear to have any tools that are man enough to undo my seized tierods at the moment. Some more masculine molegrips are called for. As cool as a foot would be, I think 4-5inches is more realistic at the moment. Then I'll see if I can still steer it, then lower it some more if I can

I have made it my mission not to go to the beach meet in a standard height car.
I'm halfway there.. front is already down, rear is going down in the hour or so between work finishing and it getting dark tonight. Then I expect I'll go a bit lower all around tomorrow when I decide it's not enough ;D

And glad the Vehicle Wiring Products/Gathering Goody Bag has proved useful! Thought you guys would be as appreciative of feedback about as VWP.. Most useful and heavily thumbed part of the goody bag by far. Probably not the cheapest people going, but it's all in one place rather than eleventy ebay orders and the customer service is spot on
