Time for a change.
We haven't owned this car for that long - only a few months, in fact - we bought it to replace our MX-5 as we wanted something bigger, but it turns out the BMW is too big and my wife isn't getting on well with it at all! So we're thinking about getting something like a Golf V5 or V6 instead.
It's a genuine 328i Sport with 18" AC Schnitzer wheels, full leather, full closure alarm, electric windows, power steering and all the other toys you'd expect.
We paid £2000 for it in August, and since then have spent £240 on a pair of new Avon ZZ3s for the rear, £300 on new rear M-Tech springs and over £100 on a Z3M shifter to tighten up the gearshift. I've also replaced the gearknob and bought a new set of tools for the boot-mounted tool kit.
So this is going to be a very good deal for someone!
It's proved to be incredibly reliable. Our driving habits tend to involve the car sitting unused all week, then doing a long journey somewhere on the weekend, and it's always started first time and run perfectly. It's nice to press the 'check' button and be given the message 'check control OK' every time too!
The stereo is really good. The seats are infinitely adjustable. The pillarless doors do that cool thing where they raise the windows slightly when you close them. The wipers are motion-sensitive. There are nice little lights in the sun-visors. It's got electric M3 mirrors, as well as M3 skirts, sill plates and bumper mesh. There are myriad other cool features.
Bad points:
- Small dent (about the size of a ten-pence piece) under O/S rear cluster
- Airbag light is on
- Carpets could do with a clean
- Wheel rims could do with a refurb, if that kind of thing bothers you
- Driver's door doesn't open with remote central locking, so you need to use the key (which hasn't concerned me in the slightest, but I thought it was worth mentioning)
(Old gear knob in this picture - has been replaced with a less chavvy one!)
