If your gonna go the bike engined route go for the biggest and most powerfull bike engine you can afford a J in line 4 cylinder would be best from £500 for a GSXR1100(130 BHP) Complete engine to £2-3K for a HayaBusa(175 bhp) the main dissadvantage is no reverse on the plus side you'll scare yourself Ever dragged a Moggy round a bend at any speed? Scariest thing I've ever done! Nope but I used to ride me CBR1000 in winter and some of the roads round here don't get gritted ever!

Go for it. Why not ehh. People complain about them not being easy to drive on the road etc, but if that was what you were looking for you'd have a 56 plate mondeo not a Minor.
Triumph speed triple engine would be awesome, or as suggested before an older J tin motor like the GSXR1100. Bullet proof, cheap and underated. Certainly shifts my 450kg Locost well enough... 0-60 in 4 secs anyone?

Another vote for Wankel here.... It's got to be a street or bridgeport 12a on a 48ida weber. With a good exhaust you'd be the right side of 160bhp with an amazing sound from a very low mounted compact revvy as hell engine. I've never seen a rotary on carbs, never mind one for sale! lol! Lol....i just looked on ebay cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-RX-7-ENGINE-12A-1984-BREAKING-/270649033428

try a 2ltr 16v motor out of a mk3 golf gti esay to convert to k jet so no complicated ecus and you can get nearly 200bhp from them in street tune. other option would be to transfer the running gear from a porsche 924 under the moggy, esay upgrade to 924 turbo or even a 944 turbo if you wnat more power. you can also bolt the 5 pot audi motor to the 924 bell housing so that could also be a option, fancy a ur quattro motor in a moggy?

Judgie... You the same Judgie from VZi and Bajaclub? I suspect your depth of knowledge means you are lol!
I had thought long and hard about Goof lumps, but I must confess I hadn't even thought of 924 gear... It woudl push me out of my points for the ID of the car though. Audi 5 pot would be very very tastey, I wonder if one would fit in there..?

From what I've read a 12A rotary will fit without cutting. As I see it, you'll have to cut a slot in the bellhousing to clear the steering rack (as done on Fiat TC swap). As the output shaft on a rotary is higher up than on a piston engine, you'll have to mount the engine fairly high to get any ground clearance. If you use the RX7 box, you may well need to shorten the remote linkage if you want to be able to change gear while you're sitting in the front. Have a look on here www.morrisdownunder.com/forum/index.php?sid=7921e6573279f30a45c7311f2a7a4012The rotary is gaining popularity down under. Incidentally I'm pretty sure there's a 12A-powered Minor pickup doing a monster burnout on Youtube somewhere.

Dude, a 12A rotary will just about fit in anything. They're tiny. The factory induction setup was a single downdraft carb called a Nikki, although they usually seem to be converted with Weber IDFs or IDAs on them.
