Bike engnes in cars. How do you do it? Use the bike's sequential box? What are the "common" choices? Pros and cons? What small V and boxer engines are out there with some poke? The reason I ask, is I am planning a street sleeper Moggy Minor. I was going to use a cologne engine on a type 9 box, but it transpires that without bulkhead cutting this would not be a good combo (nose heavy). So, I am looking at alternative engines for some poke that will not require cutting of the bulkhead. So, what engines are out there that are small enough (chevy and rover V8 do not fit without cutting), that aren't an inline 4 banger (unless it's something special)? Particularly interested in boxer and V engines, maybe bike engnes, I don't want to use K series or Ztech etc, I know they are the obvious choice but if I have to go 4 pot, I want to either go VW (so I can race the VW racing circuits and would probably use a Goof lump) or stick with A series. There's loads of room under there:

Or indeed rotary Really anyhting that isn't the "norm" and isn't going to need a rats nest or cable chucking in there to make work, preferably something on carbs or a more simple ECU that's not a curse word to make work.

Wow Tonka, talk about marmite cars! lol! That thing looks mad as a box of frogs. Not my taste, but I see where you are going with it! Some big fabrication going on there, what thickness steel are you grafting that from? The BIVA man is gonna love you when you rock up with that! What bike was the donor dude?

use the bike gearbox and its just an adaptor that bolts on to where the front sproket would be and just mount a prop job done.and we are using a honda blackbird & there was me sitting at work today wondering what sort of conversions people had done to Cinq's.....That's brilliant.

Cool. That extra steel has gotta weigh some though! What do you think it will tip the scales at when t's done?

couple of my mates run bike engined caterhams and even in those lightweight cars they say they are not great road vehicles, very hard work if you want to cover any distance but ok for a couple of hours on a sunday afternoon.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

If needs be a fibreglass flip front could be used (I'd prefer to avoid if I can though). well if your sure,i'd skip the v4 (st1100) flat fours (goldwings) and flat six's (later goldwings) get a sports bike engine like an r1, the r1 is very narrow so you don't have to offset the engine very far to get the driveshaft down the tunnel. height of your bonnet will work for you to clear the r1's air box (needed for power) 600kg is the limit for n/a bike power so get the most powerful engine you can afford! p.s. most watercooled sports bike engines (not the tourers) weight about 65kg

Just looking at the options. 65kg, that's a lot lighter than I imagined given there's a cogbox attached!
