I wouldnt fancy polishing the vinyl I've used, But the proper car vinyl can be machine polished from what I've read.
Obviously a bit of carnuba wax on there would probably give it a little more depth of shine.

Well I thought I'd take a look at what needed removing ready to fit the 2" lowering block. Jacked her up to get all the weight off the leaf spring, and as soon as I started to loosen the 1st bolt it snapped clean off, moved to the 2nd bolt, BANG yep clean in half again! So now I need to try and drill the fookers out and fit some new ones. While it had nothing holding the leaf spring I decided to lower just jack and see how low she would actually go, and see if there was going to be any rubbing issues. Yep she goes uber low. Its sat on the bump stop in these pics, so as low as it can go, but no rubbing at all, just needs a wee bit of camber putting on. I think the plan will be to see how it looks on the 2" block, then maybe remove 1 of the leafs from the spring. Wont be the best of rides, but it'll only be going to a couple of shows a year and nowhere else.

I will be watching this with great interest - no doubt seeing how it 'should be done' rather than the experimentation I did on my Ibiza 12 years ago I had heard rumours that someone had a mk1 with a 2.8 VR6 comfortably sitting in the engine bay but that could be folklore

Well I've picked up the wheels, Got caught in a rather nasty accident on the M1 but finally got home just as its going dark, so sorry about the quality of the pics The tyre is obviously the wrong size for the car as its a 185, I'll be fitting 155's onto the wheels once they're refurbed. Oh and the cambers all tits up, as most of the rear suspension is unbolted at the moment. Once the rear suspensions adapted and the camber is set I'll be hoping to drop the back end another 40-50mm from how it is in the pics. Shouldnt get any rubbing with the 155/55 tyres I want. Think it looks alright. Still unsure about the finish I want for the wheels. Gonna polish 1 up and do the P's with a black outline and see how it looks, then with Red outlines Maybe do a 50/50 on 1 wheel to get some opinions. (the back end does look more golf like with the P-spots on!!)

Quickly done 1st step of polishing, and gloss blacked the centre and half of the P's to see how it would look Gonna wrap it white next, keeping the centre and P's black for now. Not sure if white will be too much yet, but we shall see. UPDATE White clearly is OTT And heres the tyre size difference from what's fitted, to what I want And the tyre size difference

I've had on of these as my first car. Red, 2 doors, 1.2 liter engine and an optional rear wing fitted. These have become darn rare on German streets. Can't wait to see the final result.

Very rare everywhere now I think, Even in Spain!
I'm hopefully getting the rear wing soon. I'm hoping the new wheels and rear wing will finish it off nicely.

Here we go. A wee bit of camber makes everything sweet I think thats gonna be the final ride height, and gonna have to roll the arches by the looks of thing

Hmm I'm sure the VR6 Mk1 Ibiza I was thinking of was a UK car with the engine sitting up front but maybe the dimensions don't stack up.
I'll have a look in my garage at the weekend to see if I still have the mk1 OMP strut brace sitting around.....

Heres the wheels pretty much how I got them Bad Not too bad Half complete Very nearly complete Gonna set to work on the 2 semi polished ones, so they're ready for when the tyres come. They other 2 need stripping, sanding, and polishing, which will take a good bit of time. But No rush to get them done just yet

Kindest regards Martin Hi Martin, I've just sent you a message about the front shocks mate. Feel free to send me a msg anytime if you need any advise. Progress on mine has halted as Yodel have decided not to bother delivering my tyres that I ordered over 2 weeks ago!

Well the tyres took 2 weeks to arrive (Yodel left them in their depot without even bothering to deliver) But the arrived the day before I flew to Portugal, so things have been on hold for a month! Anyway got the 2 tyres fitted today, to make sure that they fit well and don't rub, otherwise it would have been back to the drawing board, as 155/55/14 is the smallest walled tyre I can get hold of! Thankfully they fit perfectly with about 2-3mm of clearance all round the arch. I'm gonna play it safe and roll the rear arches in due course Couple of pics of the back end, sitting at the height I want. Just need to set about on the lowering the front about 10cm's next! lol

Well I've had an hour spare today, so managed to finally get the leafspring removed (yes that why all pics were of drivers side only) Split it down and going to test it with just a single leaf I wont get the spring re-fitted just yet, as 2 of the bolt snapped as soon as the socket went on them, so need to get them out and weld a couple more in place. Managed to get her out of the garage for the 1st time in what feels like years! Quickly swapped the standard wheel over for the P-slot and plonked the bumper back on to check for any rubbing. Thankfully the 155/55/14's were a perfect choice, and even with it on the bump stops I can drive her with no rubbing at all. Think shes sitting pretty on the back now Getting the front down is next on the list, as you can see in these pics its needs to come down just a tiny little bit!! lol I know its not gonna be to everones liking, but it can go back to standard very easily if needed. It will be lucky to cover more than a couple of hundred miles a year as it isn't and never will be a daily ride.
