Now the petrol has stopped leaking, and the fumes have vanished I've had half an hour with the angle grinder. Cut 1 coil out of the spring to start with, but it didnt drop it that much, so off came another coil. Before and after shot I think 1 more coil will have to be cut out, for it to sit level with the rear end. But I'm gonna leave it like this for now, untill I get 2 more tyres on the P-slots, then I can judge the height better.

Just waiting to swap the 185/60's for 155/55's on the front, which will make the front sit a little lower, but It's starting to come together quite nicely now

Well I'm gonna get the old girl out of the garage again tomorrow and get the front ride height sorted. Some guy from Poland told me about blacking the front lights out, so just the chrome dome is silver. Thought I'd give it a go and see how it looked. Think it freshens the front up a little, and didnt cost a penny Before After Also found out that Mk2 Golf and Jetta front bumper, lights, and grill all fit the Ibiza, so might get the grille eyebrow from a Jetta to get rid of the gap from the bonnet to the lights. Tempted to really confuse everone and Fit the Jetta debadged Grille and lights lol

I've been looking into getting a mk2 Jetta front end, as the dimensions are the same. I think the Twin fronts from a Golf would just make it look too much like a golf, and I'd rather it stay more Ibiza like. Well I was hoping to get some work done on the ride height this week, but so far not really had chance, due to this blooming wibblepoo weather! I cant even start to refurn the wheels, cus I need to have the car out of the garage, and its not really rain proof just yet (note missing window and handles) I've fitted the decent P-slot with correct tyre onto the front so see how she sits, and jacked the back end up a couple of inch to level her off. Hopefully I can drop the back down again once the front springs are finally sorted. Not sure I'm gonna be able to get it as low as I was hoping on the front, or I'm gonna lose a sump and exhaust and maybe the petrol tank if i drive over anything larger than a cats eye  Anyway heres a couple of damp rainy pics from this morning And the original ride height for comparison

Thanks nofrills
The plastics that are missing are being smoothed and painted gloss black, the bumpers and stone guards will also be smoothed down. Windows are gonna have a light/medium smoke tint all round, then cosmetically it will be pretty much complete!

Not seen this, or any of these Ibiza's before but I must say that looks really nice, just read your full thread and loving what you're doing to it. Lucky to have such a clean, rust free example to work from, hope it stays that way

Wow, that looks absolutely great on those wheels. It sits well and it all just "works". personally, I'd leave it as it is - don't go putting golf/jetta stuff on it or painting the bumpers etc, and tinting the windows would also go against the simple, basic look of the car.

Totally agree, looks good as it is with simple lowering and pslots. Jetta front will look wrong.

the jetta front would take the Seatness away from the car. If I got the Jetta/Golf Grille It would be cut so just the outside frame was left to go around the original lights and grille, just to cover the massive standard gap from the lights to the wings/bumper and bonnet! Anyway Not done much to the car today, I've been stripping the P-slots down to get them polished up ready for new tyres. After seeing the Red Mk1 Golf with the black roof on here the other day, I wondered how the Ibiza would look with a black top. Not a big fan of the line across the top of the A pillar, so the roof pillars and scuttle would all be black . Had a few small pieces of black wrap left over from wrapping a few things on my other car, so set about doing a patchwork wrap on the roof and pillar to see how it would look. Heres the result Had a few off cuts of black wrap left from when I wrapped a few bits on my other car, so thought I'd stck them on the roof and a post too see how it looked. Not sure how I feel about it yet, I'll have to get her outta the garage and take a good look before I decide Not sure what I think about it yet. Will have too see it out of the garage and have a proper look before I decide.

Hated the black roof look, so that came off. Started replacing the trim, but still not got round to having the last 2 tyres fitted As you can see the back wheel still needs finishing off. I've chrome wrapped another wheel this morning and still not sure I like it, bit to blingy for an old square car i think. So I think I might just paint the face up in standard silver so its not so in your face.

I'll admit to liking the chrome look with the black recesses since it is such a flat and simple design and it gives a nice custom look to an old and well known wheel. But do have a set of '80's wheels in a Machined (diamond-cut?) finish in need of refurbishment and would prefer to retain that than a proper mirror polish.. I hadn't thought to see what a film wrap would look like even though I was considering getting some for experimenting upon custom bumpers, thanks for the idea.

I saw these doorcards done on a Mini on here and thought it would fit in with my retro Ibiza, Just got the stuff through to do the door cards, so I've quickly tacked it to the original card and put everything in place. Will look a bit neater when I come round to installing it for real, and the seats will be getting covers Quick before and after Also got my eye on some Mk3 Golf VR6 coilovers for the front, they fit with slight midification i think, so hopefully I can get the front ed down another inch or so

Cheers fella, its kinda hard to make things look fresh with little to no money spent on it. The VR6 coilovers have just sold for £25, little annoyed I didnt get them, but I'm sure some more will pop up pretty soon. A couple of Seat dealers have shown some interest in my little Mk1 and I'm hoping to lease it out to a couple of them for Promo events,. Seat Uk celebrated 25years in 2010 so I hope in 2015 they'll have some big 30th events going on, and get the old girl pride of place at some events. I had plans for buying a mk3 VR6 and stripping the front down and swapping it into mine, but if there is a chance of it being at any seat dealers I'd like to keep the little System Porsche engine under the bonnet. She's just gone in to hibernation for the winter, other than the front shocks there's little I can do externally until next year.
