Looks nice, I was watching this one too, the people you bought off sell a lot of classic 900s and seem to know their stuff. Could be a bargain!!

Well picked it up today and all seems good so far! Massive servie history and 100% complete mostly Saab or specalists. It pulls well , all electrics work, and has an excellent body bar some small bubles on one rear arch and on bonnet corner. Other than that two bit need welding on bottom of doors to tidy up some rot. Headlining in sagging and bit of a mess so will attempt a tidy up. But with 12 months ticket and driving so well may just run it as it is!

Did the rear passenger arh repair over last couple of days, had to cut out complete setion to get to good metal and also cut out a section of wheel well that also fell out when I discovered the fibreglass bodge repair. I made up the sections using a hammer and dolly set to fold a return lip between arch and innner arch, and coated everything in weld thru high zinc. In the wheel well used seam sealer after then coated with more zinc, then normal primer then black paint, and then waxoyl. On the out wheel arch I have leaded the repair in ready for filler and sanding (prob get done one of the evenings or weekend. Looks like Ill be repair front wing as cant find one. THen its bottom of the doors and the metal should be done bar any nasty suprises. The bonnet is ready to fit as paint hardened for cutting in, along with wing mirrors. Pic of arch in lead -

Really enjoyed watching your progress on this, it's nice to see work done with care and attention. It never ceases to amaze me how few good repro panels there are about for these excellent cars. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Count, work slowed things down this week, but have broken the back of the front wing now , lead loaded, just got a bit of shaping to do and a skim of filler. Need a warm weekend to paint the top coat now , has to be done outside as garage full but got a pop up gazebo to help do a better job. Just will ad plenty of paint then plenty to cut back. Then its the bottom of the doors and metal work finished. Then headlining.
It has a cracked manifold from the block to the turbo, don't spose anyone know s of best place to get a good used one or a repair that works?

Cheers G40, the rear atch was proper solid apart from a small section so figures I go for it without a new panel. To be honest could of done with a new wing Ive put alot of metal in. I always liked the old 900 so when this popped up just down the road I had to have a bid!

Cracked on with the front wing this weekend. Fab'd repair sections for font arch and inner arch, zinc etch primed, filler primed and normal prime, then flated with 240,400,600,800 and used the matched rattle cans I got (had rubbish nozzles on them that really made it splatter so loaded the paint and will cut back with 1200 grit after a week to harden). Got the fresh painted wing mirrors on and painte dup the replacement petrol cap for my flappy one (it was grey) The rusty and flaking front headlamp wipers where bothering me so took em off , sanded down and sprayed with some enamel black Fitted some kit back onto the rear wing paint thats hardend for a week , still to flat ti back yet. plan is let the front wing harded then mop and polish the whole car after flatting the painted sections.

Regarding your cracked manifold get yourself a couple of cast iron rods for an arc welder, grind out the crack, heat up the casting and have a go at welding it. As long as you heat the casting you can get quite a durable weld, rods are quite expensive but cheaper than a new manifold. Hope it helps.

Nipped home for extended lunch and got my father i law to help me put the bonnet back on and gave her a quick wash to get the filler dust mud etc off. Still need to fit some of the kit back on, and flat the paint. THen going to mop the whoe car a refresh the plastics, but she is coming back together on the outside slowly.

So she is now rot free on the arches and bonnnet and looking very pretty, but first trip out to work today and she cut out while idling on the drive, an then while driving as soon as I tryed to accelerate she spultered and bunny hopped, so had to continue journey under very light pedal pressure. Seem to improve, but wondering if it may happen again when I head back.
I did jet was the engine bay when I tidied it, but kept the engine running and avoided the fuse box etc. But do you guys think it could stil be a firing issue with a wet distributer, or is it more likely a fueling issue, dirty filter etc?
curse word with mechanics so any guidance on what to check first would be greatly helped (and its location in the engine bay lol!)
Cheers!
