Hello all, About time to introduce my latest car, a 1990 W126 300SE. Only just run in at 159k lol. Only things up with her are the bumpers (usual problem on these) and a bit of rust one the drivers side front wing. Parcelshelf is good underneath as are doors and arches.: Also known as HMS Panzer... Plans for is to convert to LPG, and maybe change front indicators/repeaters to white/clear. No slamming or big wheels as I rather like the soft feel of it

Porsche 924 - gone Citroen Saxo VTR - not very retro but I loved it - now gone... MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T - gone but hardly remembered... Mini Cooper S R53 - gone BMW 125d Coupe - gone (mostly sideways)
Ford Focus RS Mk1 - hello low MPGs and "wanna race me" at every set of lights... 1973 BMW 2002 - Twin 40's, 284 Cam, Revolutions, E21 Recaros + more Porsche Cayman 987 3.4S - here and due to cost me more money than I have

This one is still going strong, going in for LPG and a good service next week.... Does anyone have a clue what the most common cause of cruise control not working is? I've got a long trip planned and I'd love to use it... It's the standard cruise as fitted by Merc. Loving the comfort

I'll give that a shot. It'd be so muich easier if there were manuals available for it...

The factory manuals are pretty good and detailed. You can get them from any dealership on a CD, it's not cheap though... Or have a look over the Mercedes homepage, you can register for an online version which works out cheaper. That said; the CD version I have for the W124 doesn't contain wiring diagramms... These are available for... More money. Much money

Lovely 126....when were the HT leads, rotor arm and cap last changed? only reason I ask is I managed to significantly improve the running (plus achieve an additonal 3MPG) on my 300TE by changing these items. A little pricey, but worth the outlay. A car of few vices, treat her to a waxoyl and make sure all the rear window seals are healthy, though yours are probably fine seeing as the parcel shelf area hasn't rusted .

Leather, sunroof ,cruise, black paint and alloys were pricey cost options as a 300se was rather basic(as most Mercs were), in stock

Very nice! Changing the chrome-trims is pretty straight forward, but can be somewhat frustrating. You might discover that although only one corner looks bad all three trim-pars are rotten including all of the bolts holding them in place.
